Golden Gate National Recreation Area

Environmental educator for K-12 students in Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Led multi-day inquiry-based lessons focused on redwood and coastal ecology, marine science, geology, community science, cultural history, and stewardship. Created culturally relevant curriculum that emphasized connections with students' home communities. Developed and presented classroom lessons to deepen the connection between the field experience and students' daily lives. Initiated partnership with San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park for summer programming. Led staff trainings on inclusion for students with disabilities and effectively working with parent chaperones. Member of the Diversity Committee and the Risk Management Committee.

Annually reviewed up to 25 environmental education grant applications from throughout the US for content, effectiveness, and evaluation of success. Gave numerical scores, provided written feedback to applicants, and recommended to EPA whether or not projects should receive federal funding.

Cave Junction, Or

Presented programs for visitors of all ages. Coordinated entire environmental education program involving local schools and students ages 5-17, ranging from developing curriculum to delivering classroom lessons. Received National Park Service Achievement Award in 1999 and 2002 for this project.
