I love learning. I like to figure out how things work, to wonder about things, to test out ideas, try new things, to organize, categorize, and theorize. I REALLY love learning. I always have. From a young age I knew I wanted to become a teacher. After working with students with disabilities as a camp counselor while in high school, I knew I wanted to be a special education teacher and work with those facing challenges that often make learning more difficult. When I found that suitable learning options were seldom readily available, I developed or modified learning materials that my students needed and I knew I wanted to build my expertise in curriculum development and instructional practices. Then, from collaborating with and supporting my colleagues in best instructional practices, I knew that I wanted to extend my reach beyond my classroom walls. Finally, when I discovered the field of instructional design, I knew that I wanted to use my years of experience and insight in K12 education and apply it to learning design and development for adult learners. Working in the field of learning and development encompasses everything I love about learning into a fulfilling package.In my work with corporations, schools, and organizations, I create instructional products that bring more people that satisfying feeling of having their interest piqued and their knowledge and skills increased. I endeavor to make learning as accessible, engaging, and enjoyable as possible, no matter the audience or content. I like to use humor, authentic and relatable activities, and innovative strategies to spark learners' interest and ensure that the desired outcomes are successfully achieved.
