I am currently a certified Locomotive Engineer and a qualified Conductor for the Central California Traction Co. The CCT, a joint facility of the Union Pacific Railroad and the BNSF Railroad, performs railcar switching and last mile delivery of railcars at the Port of Stockton and to multiple facilities in Lodi, California. As a certified Locomotive Engineer, I am responsible for safely and efficiently conveying my crew and our train to our destination. This requires knowing and following the applicable rules, ensuring that the applicable paperwork is in order, and listening to and acting on directions from the other crew members. As a conductor, my role is to facilitate the movement of railcars and their associated commodities safely and efficiently through our rail system. I, and my crew, work closely with the Operations Department to ensure that rail cars are switched efficiently, placed in the correct tracks, and documented as such, through their entire lifecycle on the CCT.

As a Roof Truss Designer, I was responsible for receiving and reviewing building plans with customers and then from those plans, creating a digital representation of the roof structure of the building with specialized CAD and engineering software. That digital representation included the roof planes, the underlying structural roof truss layout, and the engineering drawings of each individual roof truss, as well as needed girders and beams. This output was then used to produce the roof systems for both residential and commercial structures.

In addition to performing Roof Truss Designer duties as described above, at Thomas Home Center I was also the designated Cut Sheet Tech. As the Cut Sheet Tech, I was the final quality control check before moving to production. I reviewed, and if necessary, modified the truss designers’ work before transferring the designs to production. During my time at Thomas Home Center, I was also tasked with researching roof truss inspection agencies, recommending one such agency to contract with, and implementing an inspection and quality control protocol. I was also able to attend several multi-day seminars on interpersonal communications, problem solving, leadership, and strategies for effective meetings.

As the Receiving Lead, my role was to ensure the flow of products from the various suppliers through the receiving department and onto the sales floor. This was accomplished with specialized inventory control software and inventory scanners. I was tasked with supervising the activities of receiving department employees, ensuring timely and efficient operation of the inventory check in process, and completing all necessary paperwork and reports. I also documented my workflow process and provided these documents to aid training others to work in the receiving department.
