I started in the computer industry with an Apple IIe as my father was a computer programmer in the 80's. Growing up I learned security by manipulating upper level memory and as the internet became available from BBS, AOL to the internet we enjoy today I explored and discovered security issues and how networking works from the basics. With the family business being a computer retail and repair center I learned to script repairs for various operating from DOS to Windows NT and basic programming in HTML, Java and Visual Basic.Over the last 20+ years I've continued my training with a focus on information security and project management, obtaining industry leading certifications including; CEH, GIAC, GSEC, and more. With extensive experience with VMware dating back to 2000 I've been testing various servers, open source technology and running large labs for years. One of my passions is home automation and have an extensive roaming media center that controls all units in the home. In various positions I created large scale control systems for observatories, developed NERC CIP compliance and security for utility cooperatives and monitored and responded to security attacks and emergency response and DRP for government.While most of my time is spent on finding and implementing solutions for the utility infrastructure, I'm currently working on a LiveCD for hardware and network testing and a book for learning the real world technical and data recovery issues faced by IT professionals of all expertise.
