Currently Staff SRE at Prove, Dublin, where I am leading an important company-wide effort in Observability Engineering (think: traces, metrics, logs, auto and manual instrumentation, Honeycomb as the backend for all that data, SLO burn alerts and monitoring and deep debugging based on this telemetry data in general).Also currently quickly gaining experience with AWS and the open source stack (Kubernetes e.t.c.) for distributed computing, after almost 7 years with a company (Google) which used almost everywhere a custom stack :) Previously SRE at Google, Dublin ~ 7 years where I did lots of things and was in 3 teams, including the Crawl, Bandwidth Enforcement and Google Lens SRE teams. I have more than 20 years experience in Software and Systems Engineering. I have a perhaps rare blend of advanced systems engineering knowledge as well as very strong software engineering skills (current favorite language: Go but I also have extensive recent experience with a relatively sane subset of C++ at Google).Have a keen mathematical bent and enjoy difficult problems of a mathematical nature.Well suited to solve difficult problems and additionally I am a natural communicator and also a naturally social person, something that is perhaps rare among engineering people.Might (though currently not actively looking) welcome contacts about interesting positions at humane and interesting companies of any seniority, but nothing below Principal Engineering roles.Kindly: NOT interested in any contacts from 3rd party recruiters or agents (that is you must be from the recruiting team of the company you are recruiting for).
