In addition to a previous Service Manager role for New Pathways Group (inclusive of Inspire Childrens Services) September 2010 to July 2011 covering 8 residential homes rated 'Good & Outstanding', my previous role was as an Ofsted Registered Manager for two dual bedded residential homes caring for young people ageing between 10 – 17 years who can present with complex needs, mental health and challenging behaviour. In line with ensuring best outcomes for Children and Young People, I work effectively and in partnership with Ofsted, Placing Authorities, YOT, CAMHS, EHO and NHS England, resulting with one registered home graded as having two Outstanding features November 2013 (Safeguarding & Quality of Care) and one rated as Outstanding in all areas December 2013 with no request for recommendation or requirement.I had direct management for finance, information, site operations and supervisory responsibility for care staff with ongoing induction training, CWDC standards delivery, NVQ monitoring and annual appraisal needs. I am an Advanced Team Teach Instructor delivering staff behaviour management training including effective staff communication, diffusion, diversion, 'weapons' & 'ground holds' modules and the additional responsibility of monitoring service delivery/performance on a bi-monthly rotation. In addition, I complete quality performance assessments via inspecting the units monthly on a Regulation 33 and 34 statutory basis.As with my previous role I have the responsibility to assist in the registration of residential homes, co-ordination of these services and delivery of the company's training programme, developing a more in-house training provision via A’desso Training & Development Ltd. I am currently a Highfield & Work-safe Accredited Tutor and deliver training covering First Aid, Substance Misuse, Conflict & Behaviour Management, Attachment, Separation & Loss, Safeguarding Children, Equality & Diversity, CWDC Staff Induction and Health & Safety et al.

My previous employment was as Dual Registered Manager for Child/Adult Services for Children and Young Adults with Autism. I managed a six bedded site that consisted of a two placement cottage and a four placement house supporting young people ageing between 15 – 20 years, two of which were educated on site to allow a more responsive approach to their needs. Other young people were educated within Cornerstones school itself or through local collegiate arrangements with work experiences.Within this medium to high risk care setting with one young adult being on a ratio of 3:1 staffing, I had direct management and supervisory responsibility for 29 care staff, which included 3 deputies and 7 senior staff, with ongoing induction training, CWDC standards delivery, NVQ monitoring and annual appraisal needs. Since my registration in October 2008, all Ofsted inspections retained their ‘Outstanding’ overall assessment as we worked closely to achieve the ECM outcomes for young people, giving safe choice, opportunity and activity guidance. I was also (and still am) an Advanced Team Teach Instructor delivering staff behaviour management training and had the additional responsibility of monitoring service delivery on a bi-monthly rotation.Furthermore, I had the responsibility to oversee the co-ordination and delivery of the company's training programme and to develop more in-house training provision, hence my place on the 7407 in 2007. This City & Guilds L4 qualification equipped me with the necessary skills and practices to fulfil the aforementioned to enable a more informed and confident provision of training delivery that complimented the company's IIP status.

During my three years at NCH – action for children 2003 - 2006 covering the role of Family Link Co-ordinator and Deputy Programme Manager, I had direct monthly supervisory, mentoring, training and annual appraisal responsibility for a Family Link Team x 5, Community and Life Long Learning x 1, Portage SEN x 1 and for the Play and Learning Supervisor. In addition, I have mentored and assessed NVQ L3 candidates to achieve their Children’s and Young People award.I retained the responsibility for Safeguarding/CIN and H&S risk assessment monitoring for project activity and associated quarterly reports to regional office and NCH’s Northwest Regional Sure Start activities on ‘including male carers’. Further responsibilities included the commissioned services for Improving the Environment, which achieved local and national recognition by being awarded the Sure Start Excellence Award 2004 for Achieving with Partners and the Merseyside Agenda 21 HAZ (Health Action Zone) Sustainable Health Award for Communities 2006. Before leaving NCH and following a sustained period of direct consultation with local representatives from religion, business, community families, other professional bodies and Elected Members, this Sure Start unit received Children's Centre Status and was opened by the Rt Hon Ruth Kelly in March 2006.

During my time with St.Helens Social Services 1992 - 2003, I have worked within all Children Residential Service Provision experiencing children of both genders displaying behavioural/educational difficulties, attachment disorders and general anti-social behaviours (solvent abuse, petty crime etc.) with all the associated assessment and planning work, including LAC procedures. I have also taken part in Child Protection prevention, Family Support provision on an outreach basis and had line management responsibility & supervision of staff within a social care team.As part of my management role and in working alongside EDT, I had responsibility for 'out of hours’ resource management for the emergency 72 hour residential accomodation services and responsive support to foster care placements in St.Helens re. crisis management and joint placement approval. However, my primary responsibility was for the support services for Children with a Disability covering weekend respite, evening group activity, school holiday support, D of E activity and the management of subsidised short holiday based respite provision x 3, based in Presthaven Sands for a local charity. In addition, I had joint responsibility for developing transitional support services to adulthood for 16 – 25’s via funding from the Carers Grant. During this period, I was also a member of Mencap and a Community School Governor for a SEN School (2000 – 2005).
