In this Liveable Cities Studio course, undergraduate engineering students are exposed to basic concepts of urban planning and development through a mix of tutorials and studio work. In the studio, students are allocated areas and role play as mayors, engineers, planners, senior citizens etc. and then directed to think of solutions of pressing urban problems. Being a TA, I assist studio leader in making urban planning interesting to learn for students and inspire them to explore their careers in the domain of cities and urban management.

Planning Insights is a startup recognised by the government of India for its functions in consolidating and integrating academic and professional requirements of people studying and working in the built-environment domain (Urban Planning + Architecture + Urban Design + GIS + Sustainable Buildings). Planning Insights was formed with a vision: “To gather and present all data, facts and information related to Urban Planning, Architecture, GIS & Construction Management at one place”. With the motto of Engage | Learn | Interact | Participate, Planning Insights web portal was developed as a platform where different perspectives, approaches, interventions and ideas across Urban Planning, Architecture, GIS and Construction Management would be shared with authentic and reliable insights. We are on a mission to give urban planning and planners their due recognition in building sustainable communities.With successful soft launch and pilot testing of solutions, the organisation is now expanding across geographies connecting all students and professionals from the domain and simultaneously upgrading its web portal to support its users with all their requirements at a click.

~ Involved with route surveying, preparing interactive route maps, route optimization studies, presentations to government clients, analysis of integrated command control center overlooking 17 modules for successful launch of Nashik City Bus Transformation project.~ Making concept note, proposing strategies, gap analysis studies, vision documentation and liaising forNashik Smart School program.~ Assisted Nashik local government in UNICEF promoted project “Assessing vulnerability of healthcare facilities for slum dwellers” in terms of access to affordable healthcare and gaps in service delivery.~ Helped in preparation of annual budgets with controls to reduce loss of public expenditure and suggesting ways for non-revenue income generation in municipal waste management.~ Sorted, opened, and routed mail and deliveries to maintain document compliance for businessrequirements.~ Collaborated with senior leaders to create job bids for new projects.~ Tackled array of other tasks under watchful eye of project manager and provided assistance with preparation of project-related professional reports, manuscripts and presentations, confirming inclusion of data and preliminary information.

~ Combined remotely-collected and on-site data acquisition to generate unified geographic mappinginformation for mapping of rooftop solar potential model to be replicated across various geographiesof Indian cities.~ Provided technical recommendations and support documentation to aid in GIS process improvement of site suitability framework for identification of affordable housing sites near industrial clusters.~ Developed requirements for application of GIS solution data.~ Oversaw surveying vendors to verify compliance with necessary business goals and related regulations.~ Developed GIS models and mapping solutions for unique requirements.~ Leveraged skills in modeling, rendering and plotting to visually represent geospatial data.
