Project - Proposed Flour Mill at Port Industrial Complex, Hambantota International Port

Planning, supervision and coordination of work related to civil infrastructure (Buildings and Telecommunication structures such as Towers, Monopoles etc.) development.Responsibilities - Overseeing contractor’s activities, raw material testing, prior inspections for erections of reinforcements, formwork, reviewing, and approving concreting plans, monitoring concreting works and concrete quality tests.- Visit ongoing projects periodically to inspect ongoing work and participate in project meetings with contractor, consultant and other stakeholders.- Monitor the progress of Civil infrastructure development projects (upgrades and maintenance) and provide guidance and necessary instructions to Regional Civil team. (Project Managers, Assistant Engineers, Technical Officers etc.)- Check the quality of work done by contractors (civil projects and maintenance work) assist in evaluation of interim payment applications and finally approve the payments and forward them to financial division to process the payments.- Planning, coordinating and implementing operation and maintenance activities.

Projects- Construction of Proposed 20 nos Rooms for Ceybank Rest, Kataragama (Project value - LKR 120 million).- Construction of New Administration Staff Accommodation (3 Blocks), Playground and Road Network of Sri Lanka Forestry Institute at Nuwaraeliya (Project Value - LKR 221 million).Responsibilities- Liaise with the Architect, the Structural Engineer, and the client regarding the issues encountered during the course of the project.- Participate in project meetings with consultants and clients as the contractor’s project manager and provide updates regarding the project progress, discuss the technical and other related issues in the project in order to make sure project runs smoothly.- Issue the technical instructions (construction drawings and methodologies) to the site referring to the drawings and other instructions issued by the structural engineer and the Architect.- Check the quality of work done by direct workers and sub-contractors and instruct them about maintaining required standards and methods of rectification when necessary to keep up the quality of work.- Monitor the cash flow of the project, get approvals for the cost proposals for additional works, and submit Interim payment Applications to maintain a smooth cash flow.- Guide the staff to perform tasks reducing costs and adhering to the given budget.- Coordinating with material, machinery and labor suppliers to ensure the delivery of machinery and labor to the site when necessary and checking and certifying their payments upon the completion of the tasks to the satisfaction of the Consultant.- Coordinating with all the work personals of the project (Direct workers, Sub-contractors) and ensuring the work runs without any conflicts.- Effective management of the project through scheduling, cost control and implementation of safety, environmental and quality standards.

Project - Proposed Data Center for Dialog Axiata. It is a three storied building with double height floors which serves as a backup center for Dialog Axiata PLC. The BOQ value of the project was LKR 143 million.Responsibilities- Liaising with Architect and Structural Engineer when necessary to resolve technical issues related to the project or to get clarifications about unclear details in drawings.- Preparing master programme and updating the same during the course of project and preparation and submission of progress reports.- Overall engineering supervision with quality controlling and progress monitoring of the project under predetermined budgets, project schedules and timeline.- Issue relevant instructions for the nominated subcontractors, direct workers and plan the works complying with their work schedules.- Participating in progress review meetings with consultant, client and relevant stakeholders and provide updates regarding the work in project and discussing technical and other related issues encountered in the project with consultant and client in order to resolve them.- Preparing shop drawings when necessary for the consultants’ approval.- Coordinating with local authorities (UDA, Sri Lanka Police etc.) to obtain relevant approvals to proceed further in constructions.- Ensuring compliance to various standards (BS, ICTAD, SLS, UDA etc.) in order to secure quality of work.- Check the work done by subcontractors and verify payments to subcontractors.- Report to the Project Manager on project performance, defects observed.- Preparing material request notes referring to weekly and monthly project programmes in order to procure material, machinery and other required equipment.

Project - UK Lanka Project (12 story luxury apartments complex) located at Thurstan Road, Colombo 03. It comprises 72 luxury apartments, 2 car parking floors with an automated car parking system, a rooftop terrace and facilities such as a Swimming Pool and a Gymnasium. The BOQ value of the project was LKR 444 million.Responsibilities- Performing and supervising all the setting out work at site referring to the architectural and structural drawings.- Preparing bar schedules according to the structural drawings and coordinating with Structural Engineer for modifications and to get balance details for construction purpose.- Overall engineering supervising, coordinating, monitoring, inspecting and controlling of the project.- Planning all construction operations and scheduling intermediate phases to ensure deadlines are met.- Corresponding with the Structural Engineer and the Architect in order to get clarified unclear details or inconsistencies in the drawings either verbally or through RFIs (Request for information) and CVIs (Confirmation of verbal instructions).- Participating in weekly, monthly and special progress meetings with consultants and client and providing updates regarding the project progress.- Preparing the master programme using MS Project and maintaining the progress updated.- Comparing and monitoring the project progress against the project programme, identifying obstacles to complete tasks on time and come up with best possible solutions to maintain the progress.- Requesting and ordering material and arranging labor and machinery referring to the monthly project programme.- Instructing and coordinating site staff and workers including subcontractors and direct workers to perform tasks adhering to specifications and drawings.- Implement cost controlling methods to reduce costs in order to stay within the project budget. - Ensuring adherence to all health and safety standards and reporting issues.
