I work with epigenomic data generated by next generation sequencing technologies to understand the role of genetic interactions in Human diseases and biological mechanisms. I use machine learning techniques, specifically random forests, that leverages observed genetic interactions in specific cell lines and species to computationally predict interactions in new cell lines and new species to reduce the sequencing experimental costs and resources. Other problems I work on include reliably predicting the associations of genomic regions with disease traits that uses genotype information and exploring transfer learning machine learning techniques to efficiently transfer knowledge from one species to another species for predictions. -

This involves modeling genetic regulatory networks (GRNs), mining novel properties of GRNs using graph theoretic algorithms and machine learning techniques. Developing novel techniques that elucidate properties of GRN robustness (ability to sustain under perturbations) is the primary emphasis of my work. Contrary to conventional belief, my work revealed that the structural role of feed-forward loop (FFL) motif in signal transduction is minimal.In addition to the primary focus, I was actively involved in secondary research such as the development of analytical tools for understanding microRNA-disease associations, data analysis, web development, database management, and linux administration. -
