Discovered the role of conserved serine/proline at SARS-CoV-2 spike cleavage site in Dr. Samal’s lab. Culturing the SARS-CoV-2 and Variant and testing various compounds/antibodies against them in BSL-III. Generated a pseudo virus library of SARS-CoV-2 variants by Spike mutagenesis and testing their infectivity against different drugs/antibodies in different cell lines using luciferase assays. Evaluating the role of N-glycosylation of SARS-CoV-2 spike protein in virus infection and transmission. Testing antiviral compound coated glass and fabric against Influenza virus. Characterizing inactivated Influenza viruses for a potential vaccine candidate using ELISA, Influenza virus culturing, virus ultracentrifugation and inactivation, mice challenge study, Flow cytometry, CPE assay, WB, IF Microscopy, HI and HA.

In our gall bladder cancer study, we are trying to study genetic level changes due to lifestyle and how it leads to Gall-bladder cancer. As its multicenter study we have enrolled participants and collecting lifestyle history and blood samples from all over the India. Blood sample further use to extract highly pure DNA which further use for high throughput genomic studies. Performed overexpression of LdIMPACT protein in bacterial system and its purification using affinity chromatographic columns. eIF2alpha kinases are well studied in protozoa parasite including Leishmania. However, little is known about its regulatory molecules including LdIMPACT- well known GCN2 inhibitor in higher eukaryotes. Therefore, my current study involves identification, cloning, and characterization of the protein LdIMPACT. The involvement of eIF2 alpha kinases during heavy metal exposure is a well-studied phenomenon. However, the effect of heavy metals exposure and the role of eIF2 alpha kinases especially GCN2 kinase during development remains to be elucidated. For this purpose, different models including Chick embryo and Hydra Vulgaris are being used. Lead acetate was exposed at various concentrations to the models and studied at developmental stages.
