SilkCloud was acquired by Unity Technologies - http://www.unity3d.com in an acquisition. Investors made more than 20x in 5 years and every employee did very well financially.I worked for Unity from August till the end of December helping with the acquisition.SilkCloud built a highly scalable cloud eCommerce platform that built global stores for highly prestigious and very well known customers. It grew to 45+ employees across China, India and the US and remained cash flown positive all along. We raised series A in excess of $5m - all of which remained in the bank till the acquisition.

I signed on with Washington State Governor Gregoire as a cabinet member to help turn around Washington State IT. When I began in this role, there was considerable stress between the executive and key legislators who had a background in the technology industry. There had not been a Strategy created for Washington State IT in more than 20 years and there was little transparency in IT spending and IT policies were irrational and had not kept up with the times.I was a change agent in a situation where morale was low and a turnaround was essential. My office published a strategy in a matter of weeks (http://ofm.wa.gov/ocio/technology_strategy_022312.pdf) and worked with agencies across the State with a budget of around $1B to systematically implement a set of new policies that allowed experimentation with new technologies (Cloud Platforms, SaaS, Technology Business Management etc), helped define and implement new and better procurement policies and made inroads in other areas like security working with a diverse set of agency leaders and IT leaders. I wrote the most comprehensive review of IT investment and spending in WA State IT history: http://ofm.wa.gov/ocio/documents/Biennial_Report_IT_Final.pdf as my parting action before leaving state service. The business can now decrease costs & move improvements in reliability & cost upstream• Substantially improved readiness of Windows 7 for service packs as compared to previous releases of the OS. It is also the platform for MSN's deals with channel partners like Verizon, Bell Canada, QWEST, Best Buy, CompUSA etc.• Took the platform from zero to 30 countries, 10M+ users, different payment instruments such as direct debit, prepaid cards etc.
