The General Assembly of World Forum of Fisher Peoples (WFFP) is the gathering of all the member organizations of WFFP who are located in 23 countries with 29 member organizations representing 10 million fisher people from all over the world. The General Assembly required meticulous planning on the issues to be discussed over a 5 day assembly ranging from advocacy for the rights of fisher people to access and manage fisheries resources, for human rights and for the protection of natural biodiversity. The General Assembly also addressed the interests of its constituencies at regional and international levels.Around 700 delegates (143 - International and the rest national from 8 coastal and 3 inland states) attended the conference. The role of the India coordinator was to plan the entire programme from the scratch including the fund raising till the programme designing, logistical management and the overall implementation of the whole General Assembly in liaison with the Indian Government officials, International member organizations of WFFP, Secretariat of WFFP, Member and Host Organizations in India, Pakistan and Srilanka & the alliance organizations who are supporting the General Assembly in an efficient way.
