Dr. Bhaskar De is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture and Planning at the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur. He earned his Bachelor of Architecture from IIEST Shibpur in 2010, followed by a Master of Architecture in 2012 and a Ph.D. in 2018, both from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee. His doctoral research focused on optimizing orientation and canyon aspect ratios for warm humid cities.Dr. De's research interests encompass sustainable architecture, urban heat islands, climate change, urban blue-green infrastructure, climate-responsive urban planning and design, indoor and outdoor thermal comfort, building energy studies, and the application of remote sensing & GIS.Throughout his academic journey, Dr. De has been recognized with several accolades like the prestigious Erasmus Plus Fellowship in 2018, research fellowships from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, between 2010 and 2018 and an award at the 4th International Conference on Countermeasures to Urban Heat Islands (IC2UHI) in 2016, organized by National University of Singapore.In addition to his present academic roles, Dr. De has contributed as a researcher & project fellow at the Centre of Excellence in Disaster Mitigation and Management (CoDMM) at IIT Roorkee and served as a lecturer at the National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur in 2012-2013.
