My journey to starting up a logistics platform started back in college when I first learnt about international trade. This was a newly discovered interest and a class that I never missed! However, life took a different turn, and I spent a major part of my career in starting up offshore operations (for IT, Digital & Business support functions), from the ground up for a variety of global brands. So, a couple of years back when an opportunity to build the next ‘good’ thing in global logistics presented itself, I decided to jump right in. With my experience in launching companies from the grounds up, along with my co-founders 25+ years of experience in global freight forwarding, we set about to start something new - Terminal2: A new way for Shippers and Freight Forwarders to Connect & Collaborate. Knowing that freight rates are time-definitive and that an ideal cargo mix can significantly optimize freight costs & pricing, we set about building a marketplace for international freight forwarding. April 2020 was a turning point with the pandemic wreaking havoc on lives and industries across the globe. It was a major turning point in our journey too when we realized that while a marketplace helps shippers and forwarders connect, something more is required for them to manage each booking with the same personal attention and collaborative spirit as they do offline, while optimizing costs. The pandemic not just exacerbated this unmet need but has also etched it permanently into the way businesses plan and manage their supply chains.
