Serving as the university's Chief Institutional Research Officer, I lead a staff of nine data and research experts who support the data analysis and reporting needs of all stakeholders.Our office responds to ad hoc management and research questions, conducts surveys on behalf of the institution, and responds to external data requests, such as open records requests, rankings publications (such as US News and World Report), or other external reporting (such as IPEDS). I am the IPEDS keyholder for both Georgia State University and Georgia State University - Perimeter College.

I led the Analysis and Reporting Team of the Office of Institutional Research. In this role, I drove the three-member team to produce data-informed analysis to leadership questions, fulfill regular reporting to external funders, provide accurate datasets to internal researchers and coordinators, and provide support for advanced SQL users in the organization. I also oversaw the production of statistical reporting for various institutional reports, such as the Complete College Georgia report, our annually-produced Faculty Data Reports, and various transfer analyses.Additionally, I made presentations on how Georgia State uses data. These presentations have included:• a portion of a webinar for the US Department of Education on using data to gauge student behavior as the institution pivoted to online course delivery for COVID-19 in March 2020,• a presentation on multiple ways to use National Student Clearinghouse data, given to the interactUSG Summit in 2018 and 2019, and• an overview of how GSU and OIR use data, given to visiting universities and non-profit organizations.Twice a year, I taught a SQL course that introduces novice programmers to the SQL programming language. It provided a deep-dive in to the most common organizational data sources and shares common definitions and best practices. Tools used in this role include Oracle SQL Developer, R Studio, Excel, Power Query, and Power BI.

Georgia State University leads the way in using data to inform and drive decision making and better student outcomes. My role supports this institutional drive for improvement. I report to both the Office of Institutional Research and the Office of Enrollment Management and Student Success. Using Oracle SQL Developer, PL/SQL, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, and R, I create data-informed responses to internal and external requests for information. Response types include reports, statistical summaries, lists with various reporting fields, distributions, time-series analysis, and data visualizations. I create submission files and analyze received files of the National Student Clearinghouse. I support grant work through data manipulation, sampling, analysis, and visualization. I have been trained on and fully practice student record security outlined in FERPA, HIPAA, and IRB policies.

As a part-time graduate assistant in the Public Administration program, I supported Ph.D. students and the Ph.D. advisor with various administrative work. I completed two major projects while there. The first was a considerable website improvement project focusing on greater information accuracy and tighter adherence to college branding guidelines. A second project was researching and collecting alumni application and placement information for a database with reports. Ongoing administrative tasks included updating the website, maintaining a database of job listings, and sending regular communications about seminars. The attached file is a promotional handout for a conference where the Maxwell School operated an informational table. I used Microsoft Publisher for this.

In this role, I wore many hats. Functions I performed include data analysis, project planning, communications, recruiting and systems implementation and improvements. It was both exciting and educational to solidify the Human Resources processes of a start up research and teaching university in the United Arab Emirates. Projects and responsibilities include:• Developed business intelligence reports and dashboard elements using Cognos, including Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports to the Board of Trustees, new hire lists, exiting employee lists, faculty quality, current positions list, leave time analysis, turnover analysis, nationalization hiring targets, performance evaluation distributions, and length of service• Managed human resources data, including writing position papers on how to store specific business cases, such as employees holding multiple positions and employees holding interim positions• Project managed implementation of new recruitment software system, including RFP development, vendor selection, requirements gathering, data collection, training, and reporting• Using Visio and OrgPlus, created organization charts for internal use, the university's public website, and university accreditation• Coordinated events including overseas recruiting trips, New Employee Orientation and Employee Wellness Day• Managed communications, including creating Outlook email templates to university brand standards, creating PowerPoint displays for campus monitors, and drafting and editing all HR communications sent to campus• Created presentations with data tables, statistics, and visualizations for Vice President to present to Board of Trustees• Recruited and interviewed faculty and staff, including manning booths at conferences and events• Managed various IT responsibilities, including managing departmental SharePoint site, managing Google Analytics on department website, and creating custom search queries for LinkedIn Recruiter

In this role, I led the training function of the McCombs Computer Services department, including managing two full-time employees, a part-time employee, and a training lab facility. I coordinated our team's portfolio of training offerings, aligning our courses with the needs of business students. I developed and implemented training strategies for university students, faculty, and staff, including providing individual coaching sessions and troubleshooting to university employees and students. Always with an eye towards creating an "AHA!" moment, I designed and delivered more than 120 classes, presentations and webinars on a variety of technology-related topics. My averaged annual overall scores fell between 4.4 and 4.9, out of 5. As the elected chair person for this campus-wide university advisory group of 50 representatives serving 16,000 employees, I advised our university president and executive officers on staff matters. My overarching goals were to improve recruitment and retention of staff, improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and increase university workforce engagement. I worked with campus leaders to create separate Staff Ombudsperson and Staff Wellness Coordinator offices in order to help employees use campus services and to reduce health insurance costs. I restructured the Council to redirect our focus from short-term and anecdotal issues to strategically-valuable, long-term, system issues affecting the entire workforce. As a result, the Council transitioned from suggesting ad hoc responses to proposing evidence-based solutions affecting large constituencies of UT Austin staff. As Chair of the Council, I also served on the Policy Office Advisory Group and the Resource Allocation Program work group. Additionally, I served as keynote speaker for the UT Austin President's Annual Staff Awards in 2009, 2010, and 2011. Prior to serving as Chair, I served as Chair of the Issues Committee.

In this role, I developed and delivered technical training to faculty, staff and students of the McCombs School of Business. Our team's focus was on the Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Windows XP and Vista, SharePoint, and internal University applications. I focused on Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Visio, Project, and computer maintenance and security. I restructured our live undergraduate technology orientation to improve audience engagement by more efficient content structure and flow, visuals, and reference materials. In addition, I provided individual coaching sessions for faculty, staff and students on all aspects of technology. Colleagues frequently complimented me on my ability to solve a problem while remaining collegial and friendly. I served as our team's lead for remodeling of our training lab space, including proposal selection, scheduling, task tracking, and coordination. The newly designed space allowed our trainers to teach more effectively and gave students a better learning experience through better designed furniture. Additionally, it was designed in a such a way that the monitors could be moved out of the way to turn the space in to a typical classroom.

As part of the McCombs School of Business' server administration team, I managed enterprise Windows web servers, a Google Search Appliance, and our WebTrends Analytics Server. I worked with internal clients for system setup, site troubleshooting, and one-on-one tutorials. I solved server performance issues, including working with vendor support teams, to ensure 99.99% up-time on all systems. I also developed reports on web server and search analytics.

In my first full-time professional role, I led the McCombs School of Business' Lab Operations Team. I led 5 full-time and 60 part-time employees, including recruiting, training, scheduling, motivating, evaluating, mentoring, and retaining all staff. I coordinated operations of six computer labs with 350 total workstations in a 24-hour working environment. Together, we ensured that the labs were fully-functional, secure, presentable and open for business. I provided technical support and Windows administration to lab customers and student lab employees. I managed projects for our website redesign, implementation of our internal knowledge base, and the development of system requirements for lab setup and configuration.
