While Ben set overall guidance & direction and was always available to answer questions and provide his thoughts, he gave me the visibility and opportunity to take ownership of the project and see it through from beginning to end. The second is transparency: I always felt like I knew where I stood with Ben at any time, and could trust him to give me honest feedback and share what he could. I appreciated his straightforward approach and honesty with the team and to work in general. The third is advocacy: While on his team I expressed a desire to move into a leadership role. Ben was able to mentor me to help me grow the skills I would need (along with the opportunities to practice those skills), and to successfully advocate for me to other leaders within the company.
