I'll be moving around the province for the rest of the year, spending at least a month in a few locations. Sooke to mid Sept, Peachland in Oct, Oliver in Nov. I'm hoping to find some short term work opportunities at local clinics of referrals for mobile massage therapy.I have over a decade of experience as a registered massage therapist. I’ve managed all aspects of a massage practice as a sole proprietor. I have participated in continuing education courses including myofascial release, visceral manipulation and lymphatic drainage. I liaised with local employers to deliver on-site wellness programs. Collaboration with other health care professionals was a regular part of treatment planning in order to to assist clients maintaining optimal health while balancing the demands of life. I have a strong background in physical fitness and teaching movement. I took a number of entry level human kinetics courses in college. And I’ve continued to build on this knowledge base through various specialized training programs. I have experience teaching hatha yoga, mindfulness meditation, water aerobics, personal training, joint replacements rehabilitation programs, community early stage Alzheimer’s programs and children’s yoga. This breadth of knowledge has helped me understand the biomechanics of my massage clientele in their daily activities and the complexity of concurrent conditions. One of my personal passions is reading psychology. I am fascinated to understand the emotional systems, motivations, logic, rationalizations, and that small accessible piece that is conscious awareness. This is a skill set I apply to myself and others in my life through a holistic appreciation of competing drives. I try to role model what I’ve learned through a rich and forgiving practice of self compassion expressed through non-violent communication and alignment of my actions and my words.
