For more than 30 years I have been telling other people's stories. Now I want to help them tell their stories for themselves.I'm a writer, trainer, speaker, and facilitator who has dedicated their life to telling stories of change. Working as a business journalist for many of Australia's leading publications taught me a lot about finding and telling compelling stories, and these days I use that experience to help organisations and individuals improve their own communications skills. As a professional trainer, I have worked with organisations of all sizes to help them better understand and tell compelling stories. This has led me to create a series of courses that assist individuals and teams in the tasks of media engagement, public presenting, content development, and crisis communications. All courses are built on the idea of storytelling as the basis for good communication, and I work with organisations and individuals to help tease out these stories and improve their delivery. As a researcher and speaker, my focus is on understanding technology and business trends and then making these understandable and actionable for a broad audience. My favourite tasks is hunting down the 'weak signals' that indicate future trends and developments. Over my career I have authored or co-authored four books on topics ranging from Australia’s startup and innovation ecosystems through to the benefits of a highspeed broadband for society and the need for people to better understand and plan for change. This work provides the basis for much of my consulting and speaking work today. This research has led me to take on the role keynote speaker and facilitator on topics relating to technology-driven change within business and society.I have also parlayed this experience into event hosting and facilitation, where I act as the guide for discussions for intimate roundtable events and panel sessions through to performing the MC role for large-scale conferences and exhibitions. My writing career has included a diverse range of roles, including marketing editor and technology editor at the weekly business magazine BRW, and as a technology writer for the national newspaper The Australian. I continue to occasionally write on marketing and technology on a freelance basis for several publications, in addition to authoring numerous white papers, research reports, speeches, and other content for a variety of organisations.

Communications And Storytelling Trainer And StrategistLagrange Communications Mar 2004 - PresentMelbourne, AustraliaTwo decades spent researching and writing on technology-driven change in Australia and around the world has given me a knack for taking complicated topics and scenarios and presenting them in a straightforward and compelling manner. It's also given me a chance to investigate multiple industries, and understand the interconnected nature of change and its predictable (and unpredictable) consequences. It's a set of experiences that I have retooled into a research and consulting business that works with organisations to help them better see the changes that are happening around them, and plan accordingly. This is delivered through keynote presentations, workshops, as well as small group sessions, with each presentation tailored to the specific needs of the audience using facts and examples that are relevant, entertaining and thought-provoking.My key message - the future is important, but it is what is happening today that is vital. The world is full of ideas and concepts that are ready to be harnessed. We don't need to wait for tomorrow - there is plenty we can work with today, if we know what to look for and how to adapt ideas. After all, we create our own future through the actions we take today. In addition to delivering keynote presentations, I also host round table discussions, panel sessions and entire events.

Co-AuthorManaging For Change Nov 2014 - Nov 2015AustraliaThe world around us is constantly changing. Peter Fritz and I have written this book to teach readers how to constantly assess the future and develop skills in predicting and managing the forces of change. This book is the result of many conversations over coffee and the authors’ shared interest in understanding the ‘what ifs’ of planning for change in life. Not just responding to change once it has happened, but actually anticipating change and implementing strategies to manage for it.We said to ourselves, eventually the future will be the present… but what if we could tell the future? Would that not give us an edge on life? And slowly, what was at the start a rather far-fetched proposition, took shape.
