The Teach For India Fellowship program is an opportunity for people to understand the realities of the education system at a grass-root level and bring about a change by serving as full-time teachers to children from low-income communities in some of the nation’s most under-resourced schools. The Young Leaders' Camp is a 17-day residential program where trainers from across the world come together to bring about a meaningful impact in the lives of 300-500 kids. This is done by means of a holistic curriculum for English, Leadership and Extracurricular Activities.Every camp is headed by a team of two Camp Coordinators. In our camp, working with us was a team of 15 trainers who were responsible for ensuring that the 368 girls in our camp embarked on a different life path when they left the camp. As a Camp Coordinator:• Introduced two new Extracurricular Tracks – Critical Thinking and Dance – to accommodate the varying interests of the girls and provide exposure• Established a strong and meaningful relationship with the trainers and set up a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere inside the Staff Room, thereby setting the tone for how the entire camp functioned• Interacted with dignitaries like the Joint Collector, Regional Coordinator, and Assistant Regional Coordinator who visited the camp• Reported and documented the camp's day-to-day progress with the Core Team at KAARMIC• Took training sessions to enable the trainers enter class with stronger structures for maximising participation, behaviour management and to drive learning effectively• Observed lessons and gave constructive feedback to the trainers that helped them reflect on their strengths and their areas of development• Assisted trainers in the planning and execution of sessions on Menstrual Hygiene, Sex Education and Mental Health• Lined up an array of performances for the First Weekly Showcase that was set as a precedent for other camps• Planned, organised and executed a 2-day final showcase, Pride Rock 2017, where students participated in competitions – Micro Tales, Photography Treasure Hunt, Minute To Win It and others – set up corners to impart knowledge – Awareness Corner, News Room, French Corner, Art Gallery, Photo Gallery – and did cultural performances
