Manage, lesson plan, organize, grade, and structure for ~130 7th grade students in their pre-algebraclass aligned with Common Core standardsAccomplishments: - Developed culturally-responsive project-based learning activities for each unit in 7th grade curriculum including 7th grade Shark Tank in which students were required to create their own product ideas, conduct market research, implement iterations, develop marketing strategies, analyze environmental impact, and assess projected profits. Students delivered their business pitches to sharks from different industries in the Bay Area and were solely graded by these professionals. This project was an end of year culmination and hit standards from each unit throughout the year with an 86% mastery average for all students. I was able to reach my goal of 70% of students mastering 7th grade content. Additionally, students raised over $2,000 each year to donate to a variety of organizations and non-profits. - I won a $10,000 grant awarded by the Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative to develop a socially innovative hands-on project. These funds were used to develop opportunities for access, acquire materials, and engage students beyond a curriculum in the classroom. - I served as an advisor to two award-winning businesses. The first was "Chill" a group of students that competed in BizWorld's annual Education Riskmaster Luncheon in which students created a product, marketed to consumers, and won a $1,000 cash prize. The second was supporting a student who founded her own innovation, Beadphones, in which she competed in BizWorld's Girlpreneur competition as a finalist against 5 other start-ups. She pitched her idea to an audience and panel of judges and won the $1,000 cash prize.
