Additionally, students raised over $2,000 each year to donate to a variety of organizations and non-profits. - I won a $10,000 grant awarded by the Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative to develop a socially innovative hands-on project. These funds were used to develop opportunities for access, acquire materials, and engage students beyond a curriculum in the classroom. - I served as an advisor to two award-winning businesses. The first was "Chill" a group of students that competed in BizWorld's annual Education Riskmaster Luncheon in which students created a product, marketed to consumers, and won a $1,000 cash prize. The second was supporting a student who founded her own innovation, Beadphones, in which she competed in BizWorld's Girlpreneur competition as a finalist against 5 other start-ups. She pitched her idea to an audience and panel of judges and won the $1,000 cash prize.
