The relationship between culturable and unculturable bacteria was examined in two ways: 1) classification based on DNA sequencing from cultured bacteria and 2) metagenomics of the entire microbial community. Using the two techniques, bacterial diversity can be compared from the same environment. The microbiota examined was swabbed from human skin, cultured.
