I am a 35-year old architect with 10 years experience working internationally in Barcelona, Spain and Cape Town, South Africa. I have always had a passion for design and the creation of space. I see the importance in creating work that remains inventive and emotive as well as logical and functional and have a keen interest in sustainable design. To date, my work experience has been with studios that focus largely on high-cost residential design with thoughtful detailing and bespoke architecture. Both ZEST Architecture and MSa Architects are firms where sustainability has been a key design strategy. Some projects have been designed to Passive House guidelines thus giving me insight into the technicalities of sustainable passive design. Being small firms I have had the opportunity to gain extensive experience across the board from designing, to detailing, to 3D modelling and rendering, to site supervision. Work included building design and interior design. I enjoy new challenges and learn fast. I moved to Barcelona in 2016 and learnt Spanish and now work in the language as a project architect on various buildings. In 2022 I moved back to Cape Town and am continuing to work for ZEST Architecture remotely. I am open to freelance work in Cape Town. The computer programs I have mainly been using are AutoCAD, InDesign, Microsoft Office, Photoshop, SketchUp and Twinmotion. I am now working on projects in Revit.Although I have mainly worked in the realm of residential design, I have a strong interest in public buildings and the design of public spaces that can uplift communities and foster social engagement. With each building, attention should be given to the macroscopic urban realm as well as the microscopic detail, each informing one another. IN SUMMARY MY ARCHITECTURAL INTERESTS INCLUDE:- An interest in the positive influence of space on society- A concern for the design of public space and the in-between in relation to buildings- An interest in detail development as well as structural design and tectonics- A fascination with ergonomics and the inventive re-design of small spaces- An interest in architectural projects involving community development and empowerment- An interest in contextual response and client-specific design- An interest in sustainability and Passive House design
