I have lived and worked in Thailand for 25 years. This experience has been both life enriching and life changing. To operate in an environment so different from Europe has made me adaptable, versatile, and I have also learnt to be flexible and pragmatic as and when the situation requires. I think that as the world becomes smaller, and companies become more global in their outlook, these personal characteristics that I have acquired will prove to be useful as the multi-cultural aspect of business becomes more and more important. I have also learnt to be more empathic and to see why different people do what they do, and how to motivate them to achieve a common goal. To be sensitive to different cultures, beliefs and faiths, and to win the trust and confidence of people from different walks of life is important to succeed and achieve in life and at work.At the same time, I have become skilled at training and encouraging the people I have worked with to value and uphold Western work ethics which make them much more efficient and accountable. As well as being a people's person, I also have a good business sense and learn easily and quickly. This has meant that my role in the companies I have worked with tends to grow as more duties are added to my original scope of work. Whenever this trust and confidence is given to me, I know that I rise to the challenge because I love it.
