My on-air persona, "Big Al" Muskavito, worked as a sidekick, writer, impersonator, character voice talent, and producer for National Association of Broadcasting Hall of Fame radio personality Dick Purtan for 18 years until Dick’s retirement in March of 2010. From 2013-2018 I had the privilege of guest hosting for Mitch Albom, the international best-selling author and journalist on his afternoon-drive talk show on WJR AM760 Detroit.On air I'm known for my offbeat, but tasteful, interviews with celebrities, sports figures, politicians and newsmakers. During a 2006 Super Bowl Press conference in Detroit with Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones, I proclaimed to Mick, with tongue in cheek, that “I have a hunch you may be my father.” To which Jagger replied, “I do see a great similarity in resemblance.” The “encounter” made international news. I'm a humor and feature story columnist for the Detroit Jewish News and a three-time recipient (2017, 2016, 2014) of the “Excellence in Journalism” award by the Society of Professional Journalists, Detroit Chapter. In 2015 I was voted “Best Column” in the Michigan Press Association Better Newspaper Contest. I received an "Award of Broadcast Excellence" from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters in 2003.My decades long experience in broadcasting, entertaining, advertising, audio/visual production, and public relations allows me to satisfy a broad range of communication needs. I bring a tireless dedication and attention to detail to every creative assignment.
