Convergence created editing control systems for the electronic news gathering market which started in 1974 in the US. Convergence developed methods which allowed the film media operators in television broadcast stations around the world to transition to video technology with a minimum of re-training. This was a fast growing market that changed the way the world viewed their news. The trend eventually segued into mainstream television, commercial, and major motion picture markets. Convergence received an Emmy Citation for outstanding engineering at the ATAS awards ceremony in 1980 as well as other awards in Europe. Convergence was eventually purchased by EECO in 1986.
