I was born in Siglufjordor, a small fishing town of 1200 people situated at the Northernmost point of Iceland. My great-grandfather was s fishing boat captain, my father is a fishing boat captain and I've been surrounded by the seafood industry my whole life. I started my career as a deckhand on a fishing trawler in my native Iceland at the age of 14. Within 5 years, I worked my way up to become a fully qualified captain. After a life threatinging incident at sea, I went back to school to earn a bachelor's degree in business. During my studies, my sense of adventure led me to spend a year in China as a foreign exchange student. After arriving in Shanghai, my entrepreneurial spirit took over and I decided to take root in Shanghai. In 2005, founded my first company in China, Million Nation Ltd. and finished my degree from Shanghai University. Million Nation is an import export company based in Shanghai China, servicing super market chains in Europe and Africa. In 2012, I left the day to day management of Million Nation to my management team and started laying the ground work for IS Seafood. In founding IS Seafood, I created a company that combined my two great passions in life: Icelandic seafood and doing business in China. Today, I consider myself truly lucky because I wake up every morning and get to do what I love most. IS Seafood focuses on marketing and distributing premium imported seafood to China. Our first container hit China in February 2013. Since then, we have grown to service over 2000 of the top hotels, restaurants and food service companies throughout China including cluster contracts with many international brands. Outside of IS Seafood, I am the Regional Chairman at the Entrepreneurs Organization North Asia and am the Vice Chairman of the Icelandic Chamber of Commerce in Greater China.When I have time, I enjoy horseback riding, listening to audiobooks, and traveling with my wife and daughter.
