Throughout my tenure in this position, I was privileged to supervise and direct industrial R&D initiatives. I was responsible for coordinating the construction and testing of pilot plants in partnership with various local and international industries and manufacturers. My primary objective revolved around the implementation of projects related to the management of water and energy resources, the recovery of waste heat, the reduction of carbon emissions, the development of solar systems, the production of desalination technologies, and the management of industrial wastewater treatment.

As the founder and manager of the technology services office at the Sharif University of Technology's technological park, I had the privilege of leading a team of experts tasked with identifying the various industrial challenges that pertained to water, energy, and the environment. After careful analysis and evaluation, we crafted proposals that offered viable and practical solutions to tackle these complex problems head-on. Once we received the green light, we assembled an engineering team from the university's vast resources to undertake the project. Our primary focus was developing joint industrial projects related to waste heat recovery, desalination, industrial wastewater treatment, and developing cost-effective solutions that would help mitigate the environmental impact of thermal processes. Our team was dedicated, meticulous, and highly skilled, and we worked tirelessly to ensure that we delivered exceptional results that exceeded the expectations of our stakeholders. Overall, it was a challenging yet fulfilling experience that has enabled us to significantly contribute to advancing technology and preserving our planet's precious resources.

As a PhD candidate, I worked alongside the Worsley Alumina Refinery R&D team and engineers to tackle environmental issues. I was tasked with creating a tailored heat recovery process for the refinery's evaporation plant to manage wastewater using waste heat. Our design was patented, and Elsevier acknowledged our hard work in prestigious journals such as Applied Thermal Engineering and Hydrometallurgy. Making a significant contribution to an important project was an exhilarating experience.

I hold a PhD in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering from the esteemed University of Western Australia. During my PhD studies, I published four journal articles, two conference papers, and one U.S. patent. My patented research focused on a unique waste heat recovery process that could be applied to desalination and industrial wastewater treatment. I successfully adapted this process to the BHP Billiton Worsley Alumina Refinery Plant in Western Australia. Additionally, I authored a reference book titled “Low-Grade Heat Driven Multi-Effect Distillation and Desalination” published by Elsevier (B. Rahimi, H. T. Chua, 2017), which has been translated into Chinese.

As the technical sales manager of the control valve division, I managed a wide range of duties. These responsibilities included building solid relationships with stakeholders, negotiating contract terms, evaluating sales performance, identifying potential new customers, recruiting and training sales staff, and supervising the sales team's day-to-day operations.

As part of my role within the control valve division, I managed tasks such as determining the appropriate size and type of valves, scheduling sales meetings, drafting tenders, proposals, and quotes, generating sales reports, assessing sales outcomes, and working closely with valve manufacturers worldwide, including LESSER in Germany, FLOW STREAM in the UK, and COMEVAL in Spain.

During my tenure at this company, I fulfilled the role of a mechanical engineer focusing on Industrial Energy Auditing projects. My duties included designing heat recovery processes, conducting techno-economic evaluations and engineering simulations, utilising CAD and CAE software, and preparing PFD and P&IDs. Additionally, I was responsible for writing technical reports and proposals. I have experience working on various projects in the pulp and paper, petrochemical, cement, and rubber industries.

I was an HVAC Engineer responsible for designing, selecting, simulation and modelling. I utilised CAD and CAE software to aid the process and tested and troubleshot equipment. My expertise extended to piping, particularly with multilayer pipes, floor heating systems design, plumbing, and boiler room design.
