Bijan Behzadi is a recognized leader in transportation engineering with 40 years of dedicated professional service to enhancing travel safety and efficiency in Florida. He has invested a significant portion of his professional career, 20 years, with the FDOT while contributing to safety, design, operations, and management of both conventional and advanced traffic control strategies, systems, technologies, and devices. Major Interstate Reconstruction Projects:FDOT District 5, I-4 UltimateOrlando, FLServed as the Engineer of Record for all major guide signs and ITS signs as well as the System-wide Traffic Technical Lead for signing and markings, signalization, ITS, highway lighting and temporary traffic control components of the 22 miles of I-4 reconstruction valued at $2.5 billion. The project encompassed the following major features: barrier wall separated managed lanes, myriad of ITS and traffic control devices including 9 tolling points, 10 emergency access gates, 350 overhead major guide signs, ramp signaling system, detection stations, incident management surveillance cameras, toll and status signs, 18 interchanges, aesthetic lighting, self healing communication ring topology, and temporary overhead guide signs for various construction phases of the I-4. This is a Public Private Partnership project and the largest design-build-finance-operate-maintain, and terminate project in Florida.FDOT District 7, Interstate 275 (I-275) ReconstructionTampa, FloridaEngineer of Record for the design of highway lighting, signing, marking, and signalization plans for a major widening of I-275 from the downtown interchange to SR 60. This project included several braided ramps, with six interchanges of various types and construction in a tight urban area, major guide signs, decorative lighting, temporary signaliztion of ramp-street terminals, and temporary lighting design.
