I am with General Electric Global Research Headquarters, New York, where I lead radiation detector research for medical, security and space applications. I am currently the PI for a DTRA project on radiation sensors and a Co-PI for a NASA Lunar Surface Technology Research project on radiation tolerant semiconductor devices. I lead sensor design for the silicon photon counting CT detector for GE Healthcare. I also explore emerging technologies including navigation and quantum sensing. A particularly interesting one is Chip-Scale Atomic Magnetometers based on spin-coherent transport effects through atomistic defects in SiC.I help shape the technology road-map of the business by making recommendations based on image quality, reliability and cost evaluations of novel technologies and detector concepts. The dream of any technologist is to see his/her efforts bear fruits as products that impact lives of people. I have been very fortunate to witness this in my career at GE; first in the introduction of wafer scale CMOS detectors in GEHC surgical platform and more recently in the Deep Silicon photon counting CT detectors.I received my PhD at the department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, The University of Sheffield, UK working on impact ionization in avalanche photodiodes in 2002. I did my postdoctoral fellowship at Integrated Systems Laboratory, ETH, Zurich. Later I joined Synopsys Switzerland where I developed TCAD methodologies for image sensors. I then moved to ESPROS Photonics AG, and and developed 3D-TOF pixels. Since early 2011 I am with GE.My work has resulted in 34 issued patents in areas related to radiation detection.
