All my work in ISI was related to Pattern Recognition and Image Processing. Below mentioned are two key projects.DEVELOPMENT OF ONLINE HANDWRITING RECOGNITION SYSTEM FOR INDIAN LANGUAGES (OHWR) — BANGLA: - The objective of this project was to develop an Online Handwriting Recognition System for Bangla, which will recognize unconstrained Bangla Handwriting. • Online here means, when the user will input the data it will get digitized at the time of writing. • The data was written on a hardware called Tablet with the help of a digital pen. This usb-tablet was connected to the computer. • Census Form Reading, Online Form Processing etc. are some of the applications which were developed during this project with the help of this recognition engine. • Developed algorithm for data annotation, word segmentation, feature extraction, classification and designed and developed an HMM based Classifier for word recognition as a part of this project.HANDWRITTEN CHARACTER RECOGNITION: - The objective of this project was to recognize Offline Handwritten character. Here the recognition of character was on Offline mode. • Offline here means the data was digitized later on by the scanner after the user has written the data with the help of normal pen and paper. • Major application areas for this software are Postal Automation System, Bank Cheque Processing System, Form Processing System.• We have designed recognition engine for Bangla and Devanagari characters and numerals as a part of this project. • I have designed a GUI based Form Processing System, called ISIFormReader during this project interval which automatically reads handwritten application forms.
