As a Senior Monitoring Engineer at the United Nations International Organization for Migration in the Provincial Office, Quetta, I have been fulfilling a critical role since July 2023. My primary responsibilities involve collaborating with Monitoring Officers and assisting the National M&E Officer in formulating technical monitoring plans for ongoing project activities. This includes creating and implementing technical monitoring tools and templates essential for on-site project progress monitoring. Additionally, I am responsible for coordinating visit schedules with our technical team, counterparts, and stakeholders, and I regularly conduct field visits to monitor various projects, ensuring accurate progress tracking and comprehensive reporting.In this role, I also focus on ensuring compliance with project standards and deadlines. This includes monitoring construction schedules and activities to guarantee adherence to project completion deadlines and ensuring compliance with quality control and environmental plans as outlined in contractual agreements. I actively identify and document implementation challenges, reporting them promptly to Project Management. Moreover, part of my responsibility is to train field staff in monitoring techniques and the use of tools and templates, ensuring consistency and quality across all project monitoring activities. My role necessitates maintaining effective coordination with other project sections, enhancing the overall monitoring and reporting framework of the organization's activities.

As a Civil Engineer with the International Rescue Committee in Jaffarabad from February to June 2023, I played a key role in the flood emergency response under the Education Cannot Wait Project, focusing significantly on school repairs and renovation. In this challenging environment, my responsibilities extended to conducting environmental investigations, including sanitary surveys and WASH scoping/mapping, to improve accessibility in flood-impacted areas, with a particular emphasis on aiding marginalized groups. I was actively involved in innovating and implementing strategies to address risks associated with inadequate WASH services during the flooding, ensuring all initiatives aligned with national and international standards. My work was crucial in the development and renovation of WASH infrastructures for schools, tailoring designs and solutions to meet the specific needs of educational facilities in these flood-affected regions. This included preparing engineering designs, conducting inspections under demanding conditions, and developing models for community water supply schemes and healthcare waste management systems, which were vital in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the damaged schools. Providing technical consultation for site selection and development in this emergency context, my role was instrumental in safeguarding the health and safety of marginalized groups, ensuring their access to essential services. Navigating the unique challenges of the flood emergency response work required a comprehensive understanding of construction codes, state laws, and organizational policies, particularly in the context of the extensive school repairs and renovations undertaken.

In my previous role, I spearheaded the repair and rehabilitation efforts of selected government schools in Gwadar, as part of a project implemented by the Education Department of the Government of Balochistan and funded by the European Union, focused on constructing Model Cluster Schools. My responsibilities encompassed conducting detailed surveys to assess the conditions and needs of these schools, preparing comprehensive drawings, cost estimates, and proposals aligned with the project's objectives. Overseeing the project implementation, I ensured strict adherence to quality standards and specifications, while managing construction activities and maintaining regular supervision to guarantee timely completion. Collaborating with a diverse group of stakeholders, including government officials, contractors, and community members, I addressed challenges during the implementation phase, ensuring the project met its goals. My role also involved presenting progress reports to project management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and solutions, and conducting final inspections to ensure the schools met the high standards required for Model Cluster Schools. Additionally, I played a key role in knowledge sharing and capacity building among project staff and stakeholders, emphasizing best practices and lessons learned from this EU-funded initiative.

As a Resident Engineer at Al Furjan Pvt Ltd in the United Arab Emirates from May 2019 to May 2021, I played a pivotal role in managing and coordinating the operational functions of day-to-day activities on the construction site. My responsibilities included overseeing the supervision of site work, assigning duties to workers to ensure efficient and smooth execution of tasks. Regular site inspections were a crucial part of my role, allowing me to monitor progress, assess quality, and ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.My job also involved collaborating closely with various project stakeholders, including contractors and subcontractors, to address and resolve any issues or challenges that emerged during the construction process. Effective communication and coordination among different project teams were vital, and I worked diligently with project managers and engineers to maintain this. Preparing and presenting reports on project progress was an important aspect of my role, wherein I highlighted key milestones, pinpointed challenges, and recommended viable solutions. Implementing and enforcing strict safety protocols and procedures was a priority for me, aiming to maintain a safe working environment on the construction site at all times. As a School Development Engineer for the Global Partnership for Education – Balochistan Education Project at the Provincial Office in Quetta, from February 2016 to March 2018, my role was integral in shaping the landscape of educational infrastructure in the region. I assisted both the Manager of School Development Infrastructure and the Development Infrastructure Specialist in planning and implementing infrastructure development programs and construction activities. My responsibilities included actively supervising engineers from consultant firms and contractors, providing essential guidance and support to address any issues related to construction quality and management procedures.Collaborating with a diverse range of project stakeholders, including government officials, consultants, contractors, and community representatives, I played a crucial role in addressing challenges and ensuring project objectives were met. My involvement also extended to the evaluation and selection of contractors and suppliers for construction projects, ensuring alignment with procurement policies and guidelines. I was responsible for preparing comprehensive reports and documentation related to project progress, where I highlighted key achievements, pinpointed challenges, and provided recommendations for improvement. Implementing and supporting quality control measures was essential to ensure that construction activities met the required standards and specifications. Additionally, I provided technical expertise and advice to project teams on infrastructure development and construction-related matters. Facilitating training sessions and workshops for project staff and stakeholders, I aimed to enhance their understanding and implementation of construction procedures and best practices, contributing significantly to the development of educational infrastructure in Balochistan.

In my role as a Regional Engineer for the National Rural Support Programme, I had the opportunity to contribute significantly to various developmental projects across Kech, Lasbela, Gwadar, Awaran, and Panjgur. One of my key projects was the Gwadar Lasbela Livelihood Support Project (GLLSP), funded by IFAD, where I supervised construction activities for different District & Field Units within the region. My responsibilities included ensuring that field engineers submitted their weekly and monthly work plans and achieved the desired progress. I also conducted random visits to project schemes for quality control and progress assessment, playing a critical role in maintaining high standards of work. I was responsible for identifying and reviewing scheme proposals for approval, preparing monthly progress presentations, and compiling reports and case studies on successful Community Physical Infrastructure (CPI) projects. Additionally.Another vital component of my work was with the WASH Project (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene), funded by UNICEF in Lasbela. In this project, I focused on the School Section, particularly on the construction and rehabilitation of washrooms in various schools of the Makran Region. This involved implementing community-level construction of demo latrines and water supply schemes, as well as undertaking the construction and rehabilitation of washing facilities in health units.Furthermore, in the Integrated Balochistan Support Project funded by PPAF, I monitored all CPIs to provide support and technical assistance to the community. This involved preparing cost estimates and designs for CPIs and ensuring quality and quantity control by monitoring all CPIs, a critical factor for the success of these community-driven projects. I also played a key role in resolving conflicts that arose at the field level, ensuring smooth project implementation and community engagement.
