About Bill Abbott

I worked as a policy advisor and as an operational prison governor for thirty seven years. I governed Pentonville and Liverpool prisons. I was the first Head Security Group in 1995 following a series of high profile escapes.I advised the Department of Health and Commissioning Groups on security in High Medium and Low Secure psychiatric hospitals. I contributed to the development of physical security standards and to the publication of the Relational Security booklet. I have carried out investigations into security and advised on the improvement of security.I was awarded the O.B.E. for services to mental health in 2010.
