About Bill Bee
Ones Biography can be written from many perspectives. However, for me, it was always focused on improving knowledge and competitive skills. I learned from the best in Wall Street and always attempted to compete with those that were better. A modicum of the above either wore off on me or I was a subject of osmosis; my skills improved. I was fortunate to enjoy some fabulous years in the institutional trading environment of Wall Street. They were my fifteen minutes in sun. I enjoyed that a few times. In 2003, I stumbled upon my next opportunity. It was post my first retirement and injected a new energy into me. Imagine, crazy Wall Street trader, reinvents himself and accepts the opportunity to recreate a nonprofit. I was provided the opportunity of revitalizing two Big Brother agencies in Martin County and Palm Beach County, Florida. One was floundering and the other could not be salvaged; one like a fish out of water and one already on the stove.Building a new board and introducing staff to a performance mentality and positive attitude, the changes commenced. First came the introduction of some basic business concepts followed by improving morale. Like the Phoenix, BBBS Martin rose from the ashes and soared to new heights. Palm Beach was a more interesting opportunity, but the end result was exciting. Now, both counties serve six hundred children yearly and remain financially stable. Great new leadership professionals and new enthusiastic Board Members will provide continued sustainability. As to my Wall Street adventures/skills, they are now another story.

After an amazing life in the institutional arena of Wall Street, I found my second life's calling in redeveloping stagnant or dysfunctional nonprofits. I was first charged with revitalizing and creating a financially sound Big Brothers Big Sisters agency in Martin County and later expanding our services into Palm Beach County. Now, the agency serves seven hundred plus children and is fiscally sound. The team are all degreed and are exceptional in guiding our volunteers, as they help change the lives of children for the better, forever. The skill sets required for this transformation of obsolete to an "impactful" organization are: fiscal acumen, creativity, optimistic personality, positive drive, passion, transparency, accountability and recognizing the ever changing landscape affecting & effecting your service or product (adaptability). This series of characteristics doesn't preclude one must have basic core leadership and management skills. Incidentally, while these are all elements necessary to functionally run a business, it doesn't mean one has to achieve perfection, but one does have to accept responsibility for disappointment; then, be prepared to forward a solution, not a crying towel.

The dissolution of the BBBS agency in Palm Beach allowed for our expansion and name change.We are a growing non profit and anticipate serving many children from a financially stable platform while continuing to offer effective, efficient and quality programs within the community for children.
