I'm Bill Black, born and raised in Buffalo, NY, by my parents, Dave and Maryann. Growing up in my dad’s welding and repair shop, I learned early on the value of a good day’s work. After high school, I joined the Marine Corps, where I served for 4.5 years, including in Operations "Just Cause" and "Desert Storm."When I left the Marine Corps, I began my career as a Diesel Technician, advancing to roles as Shop Foreman, Service Manager, and eventually Operations Manager at a Volvo dealership, where I oversaw Parts, Service, and Body Shops across up to four locations.In 2009, equipped with the skills and insights gained from mentors John Bird and Tim Rose at Central Carolina Trucks, I founded National Fleet Management. My vision was to bring the professionalism and technical excellence of a dealership to the aftermarket. Starting in Statesville with just 1,500 square feet of flex space and two service trucks, we've grown significantly. Today, we have five shop locations totaling over 50,000 square feet of shop space, owning three of those sites, with 26 mobile trucks across five states, a parts business, and a used truck dealership.We're building what I like to call the "Chick-fil-A of the truck repair industry," with a goal of becoming a $1 billion company by 2039. I’m deeply committed to continuous improvement through reading, conferences, coaching, mentoring, and consulting. I believe we’re all created to serve others with our unique, God-given gifts, and I’m dedicated to using mine to support our team, customers, community and country.
