Designed and implemented (deployed to operational) a Ceph based distributed storage solution to support the large storage requirements of a new product for HP Inc. (not yet announced publicly). Designed and developed a data management solution for customers of this new product. Cannot describe anything else here at this time.Work with product teams in HP Inc. to build storage and data management strategies specific to the product goals.

Responsibilities include:• Design, develop and document REST-APIs for Army system interoperability capabilities.• Develop custom software solutions for proposals and demos.• Developed test and validation suite for vendor assessments on critical intelligence programsIn this position I designed and implemented an evaluation and validation strategy to assist the Army in selecting vendors for new data management solutions for Army Intel. I defined and delivered system interfaces to allow disparate target identification and targeting systems to interact with each other to shorten the OODA loop.Assisted the Army with integration of USAF aircraft position data as part of the JADC2 effort.

Lead engineer and member of architecture team working on the SimpliVity hyper-converged storage product.Tasks included:• Design, develop and document software for enhancements and new features.• Develop REST API interfaces in Java.• Develop control plane code in C++.• Develop and document processes and developer training materials for on-boarding new engineers.• Designed and implemented significant system design modifications for product scale out.• Contribute enhancements to Agile development process, reduced TTM of new features.In this role I was able to influence the organization to incorporate lightweight system level designs from the architecture team to provide guidance for scrum teams implementing new features. This greatly reduced the amount of rework the teams had to perform to deliver new features. A side effect was also to reduce tensions between scrum teams as coordination, communication and collaboration improved.I initiated a new development effort to replace the management plane with a GO based micro service design. I had three key successes in this effort as follows:• Introduced and evangelized micro-service architecture to the development teams. • I led a multi-scrum team effort to create a GO based micro service template that was used to successfully jump start other scrum teams building GO micro services.• Delivered the first 5 micro services into the product over 6 months.Most recently my focus has been on contributing to scale designs and implementation for the new architecture. A key element of this was investigating and proposing changes to existing code that was not designed for scale in order to support the extended scale initiative. This effort resulted in significant reduction in REST response times for problematic APIs at scale (several minutes down to 112ms).

Lead Software Engineer for the Manageability Suite of the Store Virtual disk array product.I played a critical role in design and implementation of the SV3200 web-based UI and REST interface:• Collaborated with the UI designer to mock new features using Balsamiq.• Coded and maintained (bug fixes) UI screens using HTML-5 and JavaScript.• Directed and coordinated development of the UI with domestic and India based scrum teams.• Led two teams in REST-API definition, specifications and development including coding.• Drove a major refactoring effort in the C++ based REST code to simplify architecture which greatly reduced development time for new APIs.

Software Engineer for the Manageability Suite for the LeftHand disk array product. Responsibilities include project definition, design and planning and coding tasks for new and existing products including the Central Management Console(CMD), CLI, VSS Provider, vmWare Snapshot Integration, Backup Recovery Manager, vmWare SRM plug-ins and Installers. Other responsibilities include engineering level oversight of contract engineers both domestically and in India. Languages involved include C++, Java, HTML5, JavaScript, C#.

Responsible for system level architecture, software development, and test and validation of both LevelTROLL firmware and WinSitu 5 software. o Primary software developer and technical lead of internal team of 2 software engineers. o Technical lead for the Q/A test and validation team of 2 people. o Designed and implemented the system level platform design for new product development. This design combines industry standard communication protocols and common firmware functionality across hardware platforms and software modularity. The effect is a uniform look and feel to the features and functionality of the new products, significant code reuse for both firmware and software and reduced time to market for new products. o Responsible for writing functional specifications for system design and software. o Redeveloped new software product line in 12 months for both Windows and Windows Mobile. · Implemented software licensing program so company could sell and license software applications to recover development costs. · Transitioned the company from proprietary device communications to industry standard protocols which has opened new markets for the products. · Designed and developed, with outside contractors, the In-Situ Telemetry program which uses GSM/GPRS and CDMA mobile phone technology and the Iridium satellite system to transmit data from remote sites to the customers desktop or to the In-Situ data center. · Created a SDK for the new In-Situ products which OEM vendors now use to customize solutions for their customers using the In-Situ platforms. · Supported translation of the In-Situ software products into 9 languages.

Technical Lead of Systems and Software Group · Lead developer and system architect for software applications and control and communication systems for Hach. o This system level design was implemented across the multiple business units and companies under the Danaher Environmental Water Quality division. · Responsible for project definition, priority, scheduling and planning. · 5 direct report engineers, 7 contractor engineers, 800K budget · Developed code and managed up to 20 projects of various size and scope. · Created 5 OPC servers (OLE for Process Control) which integrated Hach/Lange products into SCADA systems for Water Treatment Waste Water Treatment facilities.Responsible for software support for Hach and 5 other international companies.· Implemented software development processes for department which covers requirements definition to final test and release.· Implemented version control system, coding standards and installation standards for group.· Collected and analyzed customer requirements to help team develop corporate strategy for software, data management and device communications.· Managed and coordinated software contractors, project assignments, quality, design, schedule...etc.
