Routine work of maintenance and repair of transformers which included testing the transformers for defects, identifying the causes of the defects and getting solutions for them.It comprised of hands-on experience in the following sections;▪ Test BayTesting machinery by performing Insulator resistance tests, winding resistance test, turns-ratio testing and tap changing operations.Open circuit test, Short circuit test and induced voltage tests were performed to determineconnection discontinuities in the transformer.▪ Assembly and Disassembly SectionDisassembly of transformers Isolation of inside components from the tank and inspection of the delta and star connections forshort circuits and any other defects inside the transformers.▪ Rewinding SectionProduction of the frame for winding wires made of wood from a lathe machine.Use of the Coil rewinding machine which wounds coils to a specified number. ▪ Welding BayWelding for small wire delta connections inside the transformers to fix connection discontinuities by Gas WeldingFitted cracks on the transformer’s tanks using metal arc welding.▪ Tanking and Painting SectionTesting of the breakdown voltage of the virgin oils from the taps and refilled the tanks with theoils to specified levels.Cleaning the transformer with soluble salts and spirits to remove paint residues.Painting the transformer again using a spray gun and used plate letters and a paint brush toindicate the G-Numbers.
