I have now fully retired from my role as Solent Low Carbon Economy Development Manager for 'Future Solent' is a joint initiative of the Solent LEP and the Partnership for Urban South Hampshire (PUSH).Bill Clark retired from Southampton City Council in March 2012 and is now Solent Low Carbon Economy Development Manager, for Future Solent. A qualified Landscape Architect with over 30 years experience of working with Local Authorities in the Solent area, I have considerable experience in developing and delivering environmental, regeneration,sustainability and low carbon policies and initiatives including helping set up the PUSH sustainability group/panel in 2006 to take forward sustainability issues sub regionally. Whilst at Southampton City Council I was also responsibele for developing the city's flood and coastal defence management plans and implemented a network of urban Greenways as part of a Green City infrastructure plan. This involved working closely with the business sector, specifcally the Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, on the development of Southampton (and latterly the Solent area) as a Low Carbon City and sub region, including the promotion of low carbon district energy schemes. I am well know for my work in this field both Nationally and in Europe where he has participated in a number of projects advocating sustainable urban environments and district energy solutions.I received the Combined Heat and Power Associations Champion Award 2011/12 In collaboration with the University of Southampton I contributed to the development of a programme of undergraduate, post graduate and PhD research projects, including the recently completed Carbon Footprint assessment model, which uses the Southampton area as an urban test study, and which is being exploited commercially.I have also several years experience of working with European partners on environmental and energy projects e.g. GRaBs (Interreg IVc)
