By combining content management with integration and analysis applications, Vignette enabled organizations to deliver personalized information wherever it is needed, integrate online and enterprise systems and provide real-time analysis of the on-line customer experience. Vignette grew from $3.5 million in 1997 to $16 million in 1998, $89 million in 1999, and $367 million in 2000, making it one of the fastest growing software companies in history. During that time, Vignette's customer base grew from 150 to 1,400. Vignette's growth was fueled in part by a series of four acquisitions between 1999 and 2000, including the acquisition of OnDisplay for $1.7 billion in mid-2000.From 2000-2002, conceived, created, and led organization to deliver packaged business applications utilizing Vignette's content management and personalization engines, delivering three packaged business applications to the market within first year.From 1998-2000, led technology, product, and corporate strategy functions and was responsible for conceiving and bringing to market all new Vignette products, including building the teams to do so. Briefed large shareholders and analysts at investment banks as chief strategy executive. Responsible for product marketing, product management, and engineering for all of Vignette's products. During this period, Vignette's product portfolio grew from two to fourteen and total products group headcount grew to 700+. Also responsible for business development and product strategy - conceived and executed on four acquisitions (Diffusion, DataSage, Engine 5, and OnDisplay) and numerous significant relationships with partners (IBM, Sun, BEA, Rational, etc.). During this time, Vignette had a wildly successful IPO.
