Newspaper publisher since 1981, started the Johnson City News & Neighbor in 1997. Unfortunately, we closed the Newspaper in August 2023 due to the loss of all national insert customers due to supply chain issues caused by COVID. The newspaper was ,a six-time General Excellence and top national award winning community newspaper with the top editorial award in 2013 and 2014. Was runner-up for General Excellence award out of 1,000 entries in 2015 from the U.S. and Canada. 31,000 circulation home delivered newspaper in Johnson City, TN. We added the 26-year-old The Business Journal of Tri-Cities Tennessee/Virginia to our company in March 2012. The Business Journal is a B2B glossy magazine covering important business news in 17 counties in upper East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia with approximately 20,000 readers. It was also a national first place editorial award winner in 2016. Derby was selected as an East Tennessee State University Department of Communication Alumni Hall of Fame inductee 2007 in Advertising. Derby received an Alumni Award of Honor from the National Alumni Association, East Tennessee State University in May 2017. He was one of four alumni chosen. Criteria for the award is: Having earned one of more degrees from East Tennessee State University; Demonstrated significant accomplishments in his chosen field of work; Demonstrated moral and/or financial support to the university since graduation.
