As the Managing Partner of Abacus CPAs, LLC and CEO of Abacus Business Consulting, LLC, I’m proud to lead one of the premier Certified Public Accounting firms in the Missouri region. My journey began in Carmel, Maine, but in 1982, I moved to Springfield, Missouri, where I earned my degree in accounting from Missouri State University.My career started at Deloitte & Touché in Kansas City, which gave me a strong foundation in public accounting. From there, I took on the role of Tax and Internal Audit Manager for Mid America Dairymen (now Dairy Farmers of America), a position that allowed me to dive deep into tax strategy and internal controls. Later, I joined Whitlock and Associates, where I managed a diverse portfolio of clients in the Branson area.In 1998, I took the entrepreneurial leap, founding Dunton and Associates as a sole proprietor. Over the years, through two strategic mergers and a rebranding to Abacus CPAs, I’ve guided the firm’s growth and continued to lead with a focus on innovation. Today, I oversee a wide range of services, including accounting, tax, consulting, and strategic planning, while mentoring our talented team. The firm rebranded to Abacus! in 2024 to convey our ongoing effort to ensure the highest level of service and the best possible experience for our clients. Beyond my professional life, I’m deeply involved in the community. I currently serve as Treasurer of the Board of the Gillioz Theater and support several local initiatives. In my free time, I enjoy playing golf, working in the yard, and cheering on the Boston Red Sox. I’m also fortunate to share my life with my wife, Lisa, and our two wonderful children, Drew and Allie.
