Principal Consultant
In May of 2002 I resigned from the DOD and moved to Bothell, WA to establish Dyas Consulting, LLC, providing guidance and support in the development of Education, Training, and Awareness programs for both the Public and Private sectors.
Master Sergeant (R)
I have lived a “Be All That You Can Be” life, serving 24 years in the Army, Army National Guard, and Army Reserve. I started my military career as a Military Policeman and was later selected and served 5 years with HQ US Army Europe Protective Service Division. After active duty, I served in the National Guard and the Army Reserve as an Infantry Instructor, ROTC Instructor, Operations NCO and First Sergeant. While on active duty and later in the reserves, I maintained a Work-Life balance that allowed me to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, Training, and Development as well as a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree. Combined with my passion for the development, implementation, and management of engaging, relevant, and effective training and development programs, I have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to make a difference in human performance and collective success.
Training Systems Advisor And Director Of Training
The Navy was the service of my youth growing up in Tidewater, VA. After leaving active duty Army in 1987, I completed my BS In Education and was hired by the Navy as an Instructional Systems Specialist at Fleet Combat Training Center Atlantic in the Curriculum & Instructional Standards Office (CISO), I soon became the Division Officer for the Training Technologies Office that I was to create. In 1996 I transferred to COMTRALANT as the Training Systems Advisor. Not long after taking that billet as a GS-13 the Navy began the Training Revolution. This is where karma or dumb luck again found me literally at the water fountain outside the Captain’s (Acting CINCLANTFLT N7) office. I heard the familiar “Dyas, come in here please”. The next thing I know, the Captain’s retired and I am the Director of the “Yet to be developed” Local Training Authority (LTA). We Moved the LTA to Dam Neck attached to FCTCLANT as a Directorate. Soon I left the LTA and became Deputy Director of Training, Fleet Combat Training Center Atlantic. It was good to be back at “My Dam Neck”. There I worked with some of the most dedicated and professional practitioners of Education and Training programs within the military. The level of understanding and application of solid training principals in the training of the most complex Navy Combat and Combat Control Systems in the world, was awe inspiring and educational. In 2000 I transferred to Pensacola, FL assigned to the Chief of Naval Education and Training (CNET). Working for Saundra Drummer, a Leader I always admired, I lead the team that brought online The Navy Learning Network. That was a lot of fun and I expected to work there until I retired, but it didn’t work out that way. In May of 2002, I followed my heart to Bothell, WA and establised Dyas Consulting, providing guidence and support to customers on the planning, development, delivery, and evaluation of Education, Training, and Awareness programs.
