Responsible for managing the department’s annual budget and leading – Public Safety, Ski Patrol, Emergency Medical Services and Risk Management teams. Develop and updates annual plans for security training (Fraud/Workplace Violence) and preventative safety programs for managers and employees located within the resortManages and maintains effective professional relationships with third party service providers including, but not limited to, security companies (electronic, guard services), medical servicesDirects response to emergency situations including, but not limited to, safety hazards, fires, medical emergencies, and threats to life and/or property.Develops and maintains on-going relationships with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies in our territory locations.

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Risk & Global Security. Responsible for directing the Risk Management and Security Program for worldwide locations where Vertex is operating its business in the areas of Research, Development, G&A, and Commercial Operations. Working with key stakeholders to guide them in implementing a corporate standard across all areas of the organization while tailoring the program to meet the specific needs of each functional area. Oversee Global Security Systems operations, GSOC and security contract service provider. Manage Corporate Travel Safety program, Special Event Security and Executive Protection Program on a global platform. Liaison with Local, State, Federal, and International Law Enforcement agencies. Manage day to day operations and financials for Call Center, Transportation and Receptionist personnel at corporate headquarters.

Responsibilities included but not limited to, advice to management on all security matters for the resort and convention center. Develop and maintain safety and security audits within the property. Meet with potential and current clients to tailor security plans for their organizations. Meet and plan advances for protective details of dignitaries and VIP’s. Analysis of threats and vulnerabilities to the property and personnel. 
Plan and implement security staff training in areas of site-specific requirements, and safety and industry best practices (report writing, investigation training, dispatch, communications, emergency management, customer service). 
Development emergency plan for guest and employees to ensure successful conclusion during emergencies. Manage and oversee all investigations involving guest and employees. Investigations included Human Resources related infractions, workers compensation accidents and injuries, missing and or stolen property of guest or company, any general liability claims. Developed and managed operational and project budgets, controlled expenses and department revenue.

Develop and implement global security programs to service executive’s travel and special events for major pharmaceutical companies. Tailor programs to meet client’s needs on executive protection, travel and physical security for all personnel at special events. Awareness training on protection of proprietary information and intellectual property. Advise clients on identified risks and methods of mitigation after a detailed site audits. Manage contracted personnel to ensure consistency of services to client.

Managed corporate security, executive protection, special events, countermeasures, GSOC, security systems and security projects groups, including company’s transportation program and a reception team of 20 lobbies at main campus Headquarters. Developed and maintained corporate security and safety standards and compliance of all local and remote sites for existing as well as new buildings. Negotiated security guard contracts to include performance metrics to ensure quality service at all sites while meeting budget.
