Project Manager responsible for various municipal and civil design projects developed in the office.Projects of interest include: design of 500,000 gallon elevated storage tanks for Chatham and Moore Counties in North Carolina; evaluation of process control for a 100,000 gpd wastewater treatment plant in Camden County, NC; design of water/wastewater extensions and replacements at Fort Bragg; evaluation of stormwater improvements for Moore County Regional Hospital; conceptual site planning for a new 65-bed hospital and medical office complex in Hoke County North Carolina; development of a stormwater master plan for a mixed residential and commercial area of Fayetteville, NC, and; site design of commercial and residential sites in Southern Pines, NC.

Murrells Inlet, South Carolina

Chief Engineer for the Land Development Team and responsible for overseeing civil design for the group. Lead design for a staff of nine (9) engineers, land planners, landscape architects, CAD designers, and permit support staff. Provided guidance and mentoring of staff engineers and quality control and quality assurance oversight of design and construction documents.Several projects of interest during tenure with the firm were the expansion of the Belle Isle Yacht Club community in Georgetown and the drainage plan and study for the Founder’s Club and Hagley subdivision in Pawleys Island. The Belle Isle Yacht Club project included renovation of the marina; construction of a new Yacht Club (Community Center) and pool, and; construction of high end condominiums incorporating a Low Impact Design (LID) for stormwater management. Designed and developed construction documents for the next phase which also incorporates LID concepts and utilizes state-of-the-art geotechnical alternatives to stabilize the site.As Lead Engineer developed site stormwater management plans for the renovated Founder’s Club Golf Course (formerly Sea Gull Golf Course) in Pawleys Island. Followed up the stormwater management plan for the golf course with a watershed management plan for Hagley subdivision for which the Founder’s Club tract traverses.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina Area

Branch Manager for an in-state geotechnical and materials testing firm based out of Columbia, South Carolina. Responsible for day-to-day operations of the Myrtle Beach office overseeing a staff of eight (8) engineers, design technicians, and field technicians. Engineer of record for geotechnical investigations and materials testing activities initiated from the Myrtle Beach office. Accomplished marketing for the area including expanding services to include asbestos and mold investigations and some civil engineering and land planning.Of particular interest is involvement with Horry County concerning roadway construction techniques and the need for improvements to the design requirements in the Land Development Regulations. Also, was the lead engineer in the geotechnical investigation, land planning, and preliminary engineering for the Carroll Ashmore Campbell Marine Complex along the Sampit River in Georgetown County.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina Area

Started a small engineering firm offering general civil engineering services in the local market. As owner, responsible for all aspects of a small business encompassing establishing an office, hiring of personnel, acquisition of equipment, targeting and marketing clients, preparation of proposals and contracts, securing and contracting sub-professional services, payroll, and other matters pertaining to the general operation of a business. Offering services in water, wastewater, stormwater, roads, site development, and construction services, the firm has enjoyed success in the market based on its size and opportunities.As principal and engineer of record, accountable for all projects performed by the firm. Of particular interest are two major stormwater basin improvement programs for the City of Myrtle Beach. The Withers Swash Drainage Basin Improvement Program was the first of its kind undertaken by the City. The project entailed the analysis and development of a stormwater improvement program encompassing approximately 2,300 acres of developed lands within the city limits. Served as principal for the project from conception through construction. As principal for the project responsible for: coordinating surveying and modeling efforts; development of an engineering report on findings and recommendations; development of a phasing plan for the capital improvements program; construction permitting; assistance in easement acquisition; final design; bidding; resident engineering during construction; preparation of project synopses for public consumption; presentations to staff and elected officials as to project requirements and status of construction; preparation of support documentation for grant applications, and; compiling documentation for revisions to current flood mapping.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina Area

Project manager for a small, local engineering firm. Responsible for producing projects for municipal and private clients. Engineer of record for several of the company’s larger projects including: infrastructure analysis and master plan for the redevelopment of a US Air Force Base closed as part of the Base Closure and Realignment program; design of key water and wastewater systems to support base redevelopment; water and wastewater system analysis for local municipalities; design of water and wastewater systems, and; design of residential subdivisions. Lead contact for clients of the firm responding to client needs, negotiation of contracts, and maintaining client participation during the project. Responsible for continued marketing of existing clients for procurement of work.Of specific interest, served as project manager for the design of a multi-phased water and wastewater infrastructure system to support redevelopment for portions of the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. The project involved the design of six (6) miles of 24-inch waterline to serve as a trunk line through the property, two (2) miles of 12- and 16-inch waterlines for distribution through an undeveloped portion of the property, a one-million gallon elevated water tank, two (2) miles of gravity sewers, and a 5,000 gpm wastewater pump station. Involved with the project from inception through start-up of waterlines, elevated tank, and pump station.Another project of interest, is the replacement of water and sewer lines along a seven (7) block segment of Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The project required extensive coordination between the City, the contractor, and hoteliers and required careful planning due to construction time constraints so as not to infringe on the tourist season. Additional projects include: project engineer on a water distribution study for the City of Myrtle Beach; and project manager for site development of the Myrtle Beach Middle School.

Lynchburg, Virginia Area

Project engineer for a medium sized engineering firm. Lead engineer for technical design of projects in the firm’s environmental department. Responsible for developing technical reports, preliminary design, financial analysis, master plans, and congressional funding documentation for oily waste/waste oil management for US Naval facilities in the Tidewater, Virginia region and Puerto Rico. Project engineer for annual engineering audit of a regional water treatment facility and for construction of a submerged outfall for a regional wastewater treatment facility in Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Virginia area. Point of contact for clients under contract with the firm, for data collection, responding to questions, and project schedule updates.As lead engineer for the oily waste/waste oil (OW/WO) management program was responsible for finalizing of phase one documents cataloging sources of OW/WO and current management practices. The second phase involved the development of best management practices for the collection, conveyance, treatment, and disposal of OW/WO for all Tidewater, Virginia facilities, including Norfolk Naval Base and Naval Station (NNB) and Craney Island Fuel Depot. Utilizing military life cycle cost analysis, developed OW/WO management program for NNB to include pier collection system for bilgewater and waste oils with conveyance systems to transfer the OW/WO to Craney Island for treatment and disposal. Prepared the necessary military construction documentation for Congressional approval.

Columbia, South Carolina

Supervision of project engineers, drafters, and technicians in the design of projects as assigned. Responsible for maintaining project budgets, manpower requirements, and client billings. Involved in design of wastewater treatment facilities and supporting components, including: wastewater pump stations; gravity sewer systems, and; residuals management systems. Also active in wastewater treatment processes.Of particular interest, project manager for a 3.5 MGD expansion of the Gills Creek Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) serving northeast Columbia, South Carolina. Responsible for the final design and construction activities for the reactivation of a decommissioned treatment train that was being utilized for digested sludge holding. Developed and permitted program for the one-time disposal of the sludge through land application. In addition to the reactivation of the decommissioned train, designed new grit/grease removal and disinfection components for the treatment facility. Prepared a feasibility report for a 2.3 million dollar revenue bond to fund the WWTF expansion as well as other wastewater system improvements. Assisted the WWTF operators in remediation and management of nocardia foam buildup due to excessive sludge ages in aeration basins.Served as lead engineer for close-out of an EPA Innovative/Alternative Grant for the Gills Creek Wastewater Treatment Facility with a 5.0 ton per day in-vessel composting system. Served as project engineer on several treatment plant designs including: Rawls Creek WWTP (SC), Spartan Mills IWTP (SC), Cliffwood Beach WWTP (NJ), Strathmore WWTP (NJ), and Charles of the Ritz IWTP (NJ) Developed operation and maintenance manuals for the Gills Creek Facility, Charles of the Ritz IWTP, and Spartan Mills IWTP.
