Bill Griese is deputy executive director for the Tile Council of North America (TCNA), an international trade association involved with standards development, product testing, research, and representing North American ceramic tile and allied product manufacturers in regulatory, legislative, trade, and environmental matters.Griese is the 2024 chair of ASTM International’s Board of Directors. Additionally, he serves as chair of ASTM Subcommittee C21.06 on Ceramic Tile and is active in ASTM Committees E60 on Sustainability and C15 on Manufactured Masonry Units. Previously, Griese served three consecutive terms as chair of ASTM Committee C21 on Ceramic Whitewares and Related Products and two terms, one as chair, as an appointed member of ASTM's regulatory Committee on Technical Committee Operations (COTCO). In 2013, he was selected by then ASTM President James A. Thomas as a recipient of the ASTM International President’s Leadership Award. In 2018, he was honored with ASTM’s prestigious Award of Merit in recognition of his outstanding leadership and contributions to the development of standards, along with which he was named a Fellow of the ASTM Society.Griese is an active participant in the World Ceramic Tiles Forum and serves as a U.S. delegate in several global standardization initiatives. Each year, he speaks at industry events in the U.S. and abroad, and he is a regular author and columnist in several industry publications. Griese is a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) with a specialty in Building Design and Construction. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Ceramic and Materials Engineering from Clemson University in Clemson, SC. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, attending Clemson football games, playing guitar, and boating on lakes Keowee and Hartwell. Born and raised in Anderson, SC, Griese now resides in Easley, SC with his wife, Joanna, and their two daughters, Emma Kate and Lilly.
