INPEX Australia a leading independent worldwide oil and gas explorer and producer. The Ichthys LNG Project, one of the world’s largest LNG developments, involves gas from the Ichthys field in the Browse Basin off north-west Australia being exported to the onshore processing facilities in Darwin via an 889km pipeline. The Darwin LNG process plant has 2 x 3.8Mtpa trains, product storage and export facilities, also a Standalone power & steam generation plant, the onshore project cost is about $34 billion.

Working on the facility “Ngujima-Yin” which is a FPSO ( floating production, storage & offloading ). It is a 332 metre converted tanker of some 350,000 DWT. The vessel is operating in the Vincent field, approx 50kms off Exmouth in Western Australia. The position as a Process operations technician is operating on 12hr shift basis in the CCR & on the operational plant, carrying out day to day work and maintaining the safe operation of the personnel ,plant & equipment.

Perth based in the head office working on the preliminary operational preparation work such as:• Creating & reviewing procedures, work instructions• Reviewing operations equipment needs, safety, fire, etc• Reviewing operational roles & responsibilities• Planning operational duties & execution• Training on the LNG & utilities plant & equipmentOne of four man team mobilised to Barrow Island and integrated into contractor team running the temporary utilities in an assurance role, advising on improving operation & management practices to Chevron standards to ensure longevity of facilities.

As a senior refinery operator my role involves the following:Areas worked: Fluid Catalytic Cracker plant and associated Gas Tail (Light ends) section including caustic treating. Steam raising boilers X5, demineralisation plant. Utilities- Air / Water / Steam / Fuel gas / Flare & Blow down. Equipment operated: Reactor, Regenerator, Fractionation towers, Re Boilers,Gas compressors, Fin Fan coolers,Steam turbines, Boilers, Cooling towers, Driers, Heating & Cooling exchangers, Effluent treatment & Sewerage plant, various pumps, vessels, control valves etc. Operating TDC3000 Console operation to operate the above processes & equipment.

Area: Block 29 / SP4 / Steam and Power GenerationMajor plant consists of two large power station gas & oil fired boilers supplying HP steam to steam turbine generators and to the refinery. A frame 6 gas turbine (G.E.- CHP), & a cogeneration unit frame 9 gas turbine (Alstom-CHP), large demin plant, fuel gas compressors & systems. Flare/ blow down systems, air compressors & effluent treatment & all types of pumps, Control Valves etc. Shift / Team Leader (4 strong) in charge of overall operation on a 12 hour shift bases Operating on a regular basis on advanced computer control system, “ Honeywell TDC 3000 “. This controls the refineries support services, including gas compressors, gas turbines, large steam boilers (500 tonnes x2), electrical generating equipment, fuel gas systems, demin water plant

This is a large sea terminal with 9 berths serving the oil & chemical refinery, it can accommodate 5 ocean going ships (laden tankers up to 350,000 DWT). The Facility handles some 2,000 ship movements with a volume of 22 million tonnes per year. Ships over 55 different products, including LPG, ethylene, chemicals, crudes, fuel & lube oils, etc.Shift Leader / Marine controller - Rotated between both rolesShift Team Leader (10 strong) in charge of overall operations on a 12 hour shift basisMarine Controller (2 strong), overall in charge of shipping movements & over seeing cargo operations.

Unit consisted of x2 Power formers units, isomerisation unit, gas/light end units,Reactors, Furnaces, Fractionation Towers, Caustic treating,Gas Compressors, Driers, Re boilers, Multi stage Pumps, Control Valves, Steam Turbines, Tube & Shell Exchanger, Fin Fan exchangers,Trained as qualified operator , progressed to tech / leader which involves running all outside jobs, plus Control Panel Operations(TDC 3000)
