I have spent a lot of time in recent decades learning that this is over-valued.I have a loyalty to my medical school. This shares some of the bases for my loyalty to the military. The school was the place which most clearly gave me a sense of purpose and belonging. So I suppose if I were to create some sort of legacy, it would be something sustaining for the school. The temptation has long been to back off, become a medical educator only - I get particularly dreamy about a curriculum in history of medicine - and develop curricula, programs, a research center that is for now still embryonic. But until I can indulge that, it's gratifying enough just to do what others can't/won't.Specialties, skills: Med ed, addiction Med/psych, clinical trials, administration, neurosciences education, publications development. Special interests: substance use disorders and addiction, disaster management, traumatic stress disorder and stress diatheses, history of medicine, ethics in medicine.
