I was an overnight production support developer, working with the Custody mainframe application. This was a mainframe COBOL application, interfacing with several hundred workstation in a batch environment to compare the reported assets of mutual funds against the actual assets.

Worked as a senior analyst, overseeing conversion of an existing mainframe application into Y2K compliance for UniCare Life and Health Insurance Company. Legacy application was written in a variety of languages, including PL/I, COBOL, FOCUS, SAS, DB/2, and IMS. Maintained JCL to take source code, convert it into IBM print/punch files, and send it through DDI intranet to a code scanning center in Washington state. Prepared documentation of system components and forwarded them to an offshore programming center in Galway, Ireland for the actual code conversion. Acted as coordinator between customer and programming center to keep conversion on track and in synchronization with production changes. Assisted Project Manager in preparation of billing and invoice check documents. Used locally-developed e-mail product, Microsoft Outlook and Office for everyday work.

This work was done in support of a contact with BankBoston (now Bank of America) and included the generation of NACHA-formatted records for transmission to the Federal Reserve Bank. Worked on interface routines between the mainframe and a series of DEC VAX minicomputers using User-Access. Also acted as project lead on an outsourced bank application maintaining a third-party software package running on DEC VAX minicomputers, including work on the Millennium conversion of the application. This application performed the lockbox function for multiple customers of the bank. Used Microsoft Exchange and Office for everyday work.

Performed coding in Unisys COBOL on a Unisys A2200/900 mainframe computer, including use of ECL, ACOB, RDMS, and PCIOS files and languages. Worked as a contract programmer for the Texas Department of Human Services in Austin, Texas. Worked involved designing a test database for the Premiums Payable System project. Assisted Chief Financial Officer in preparation of federal and state payroll tax reports, workers' compensation reports, and internal financial statements. Installed and maintained the officewide Novell Netware 2.1 system. Wrote remote access applications to automate data transmission functions from offices in 10 states.
