Oversees Downtown Raleigh Alliance's economic development and urban planning initiatives, including retail recruitment, State of Downtown report, tracking data on economic development, real estate activity and market trends, and serving as liaison to the city on issues affecting downtown's planning and business community, such as parks, bicycle planning, parking, litter, and business recruitment.- Recruits new retail and storefront businesses to downtown. Provides data, tours, connections with landlords, business planning assistance, and help navigating city permitting.- Authors annual State of Downtown report, quarterly economic development reports, which track business and development activity, market trends, projections, data, tax revenue, etc.- Analyzes and maintains market data for new development and businesses, including pedestrian counts, population projections, land values, rental rates, and sales data.- Serves on Dix Park Advisory Committee, Moore Square Renovation Project Team, Downtown Parking Study Team, Downtown Plan 2025 implementation team. Served on City's Retail Taskforce, BikeRaleigh Plan update advisory committee, Downtown Litter Audit, Downtown Plan development team.- Created and manages DRA Retail Up-fit Grant program, which provides small grants to new retailers in downtown to help them get off to a faster start. Seven grants awarded in first year of program.- Provides research-based analysis on issues facing downtown such as parking fees, litter, zoning, and plaza activation to help inform policy decisions.- Meets with development teams and companies looking at downtown to provide overview of the market.
