Oversees Downtown Raleigh Alliance's economic development and urban planning initiatives, including retail recruitment, State of Downtown report, tracking data on economic development, real estate activity and market trends, and serving as liaison to the city on issues affecting downtown's planning and business community, such as parks, bicycle planning, parking, litter, and business recruitment.- Recruits new retail and storefront businesses to downtown. Provides data, tours, connections with landlords, business planning assistance, and help navigating city permitting.- Authors annual State of Downtown report, quarterly economic development reports, which track business and development activity, market trends, projections, data, tax revenue, etc.- Analyzes and maintains market data for new development and businesses, including pedestrian counts, population projections, land values, rental rates, and sales data.- Serves on Dix Park Advisory Committee, Moore Square Renovation Project Team, Downtown Parking Study Team, Downtown Plan 2025 implementation team. Served on City's Retail Taskforce, BikeRaleigh Plan update advisory committee, Downtown Litter Audit, Downtown Plan development team.- Created and manages DRA Retail Up-fit Grant program, which provides small grants to new retailers in downtown to help them get off to a faster start. Seven grants awarded in first year of program.- Provides research-based analysis on issues facing downtown such as parking fees, litter, zoning, and plaza activation to help inform policy decisions.- Meets with development teams and companies looking at downtown to provide overview of the market.

Downtown Raleigh Alliance's urban planner and economic developer, in charge of tracking implementation of the downtown master plan, primary liaison for downtown to the city's planning, economic development, and parks departments. Researches and analyzes development market trends for downtown, helps attract new businesses to the district, and produces reports on the state of downtown Raleigh.Accomplishments included:- Successful recruitment of several boutiques and restaurants to downtown- Improved org's analytical capabilities through more robust data collection and reports- Served on Downtown 2025 Plan project team- Served on Moore Square Renovation project team and Public Leadership Group- Oversaw storefront inventory of 110-block downtown building stock- Authored 2015 and 2016 State of Downtown reports- Provided market data, trends, projections, sales and tax revenue info and other relevant data to prospects, developers, media, and public

Worked for the in-house think tank, Economic Development Research Partners (EDRP), which conducts research on economic development topics specifically aimed at practitioners. Researched and analyzed information related to the economic impacts of immigrants on communities in the United States. Contributing author on "The Economic Impacts of Immigration" including leading and writing five case studies for the study. Also, researched and developed case studies for upcoming study on coordination among Economic Development Organizations and Workforce Investment Boards.

- Worked with other Secretary of State interns to present a proposal to Georgia's Secretary of State for increasing voter turnout among young adults. - Built and conducted a survey of young voters in Georgia on voter turnout.- Analyzed the results of a survey to develop conclusions and recommendations to the Secretary of State on increasing voter turnout.- Presented to results in person to the Secretary of State Karen Handel.- Researched and worked on the development of a collections policy. Additionally, I updated the museum database containing the entire catalogue of items in their possession using the PastPerfect program, maintained and preserved the museum’s collection of items through the accessioning of items, educated visitors to the museum’s special collection and documented events at the Capitol, coordinated loans of items with other museums.
