The CUPA conference attracts more than 1700 attendees and has more than 100 technical sessions. The conference is the premier training event for regulatory staff in California with more than 800 CUPA inspectors attending each year.• Founding member of the California CUPA Forum• Liaison for the Division with the county’s twenty fire agencies for both the CUPA and emergency response programs.• Coordinated the efforts of the five agencies that comprise the multi agency Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Team that includes 24 Haz-Mat trained firefighters, technical support team members, emergency medical services, sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services and local fire agencies..• CSTI certified Trainer for Hazardous materials response personnel, specializing in monitoring equipment and field identification of unknowns.• Statewide training coordinator for the CUPA Forum Board. • Obtained and managed federal grants that provided the county with $1,500,000 for equipment and supplies for response to WMD events.• First responder for the past 30 years for the county’s Hazardous Materials response team, responding to more than 700 hazardous materials emergency response incidents.• Developed an eight-hour class for countywide training intended for San Mateo County’s law enforcement agencies to improve and coordinate their response to a WMD event.• Developed and managed the budget for the CUPA, Emergency Response and Pollution Prevention programs.
