As MHM’s General Counsel, Bill provides comprehensive legal support and guidance to MHM's executive leadership and board of directors, as well as to its offices around the country. This includes advising on professional liability, contract, employment, governance, M&A, and regulatory matters (particularly, SEC, PCAOB, and state board of accountancy matters), as well collaborating with business leaders to improve internal processes and risk mitigation. Bill has particular expertise with respect to the legal and operational aspects of the accounting firm alternative practice structure. Bill is also a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee.

Actively managed a broad array of litigation and arbitration matters, including complex commercial matters and consumer class actions. Collaborated with business leaders and business line lawyers to improve internal processes to avoid disputes and lessen risk to the company. Reviewed and provided advice regarding contracts and other transactional documents.

Led and managed all phases of investigations into potential violations of federal securities laws, including analyzing potential claims, creating investigative plans, conducting witness interviews and taking testimony, providing advice regarding claims and recommending courses of action, and negotiating settlements.

Diverse practice with a focus on accountants' liability and complex commercial litigation. Extensive experience litigating and managing large, complex cases in state and federal court and arbitration, including seeking pre-litigation resolution of disputes, developing case strategy, advising clients, conducting written discovery (including extensive electronic discovery) and depositions, preparing fact and expert witnesses, and drafting and arguing motions.

Planned and performed audits of financial statements of public and non-public entrepreneurial companies. Researched and drafted memoranda on application of relevant accounting principles. Supervised and reviewed work of other auditors.
